Anyone worked on a cruise ship? How was it?

My cousin is about to take a job cooking on a cruise ship and my reaction is to try to get him interested in some other opportunity. 2 friends have had horrible experiences on cruise ships and I would hate to see my cousin, 19 years-old, have a horrible experience which could potentially turn him off to culinary careers altogether (or worse). They are already telling him that he will work 60 hours a week.

But I am curious to see if anyone has any experience (positive or negative) that they would care to share.
