kitten saga chapter 2
well, the kitten i found the other day at the gas station is not doing too well.

two of its paws are missing the little pads and they got infected. she has some other kind of wound on her chest that is starting to fester.

still eating, but sleeping a lot.

took it to the humane society to see if a vet would look at her, but the humane society around here doesn't have a vet.

no surplus cash to take it to a private vet or pet hospital.

found some cat antibiotic that the old mollybeast (cat number one) was using this winter.

started giving the kitten 1/4 of the recommended dosage for an adult cat.

gave the kitten a bath, cleared the pus from its foot and front paw and doused it with neosporin and wrapped them both with fresh gauze.

other than that, i am making it sure that she eats and is comfortable. i don't have it in me to take this creature to the city animal control so they can exterminate her.

wish her luck.

2. poor sweet little thing. Sounds like you're doing a good job
caring for him/her. Food, sleep, liquids and the antibiotics should do wonders. She'll eventually need a vet, though, for parasite checks. Most kittens have roundworms - just can't really be helped, and if she's got fleas, she could very well have tapeworms, too, and her system will be trying to cope with those bugs; the parasites will have a stronger hold the weaker she is, so your help with antibiotics and food will go a long way.

We live in a very rural area and a few of the vets offer very low-cost treatments and will accept minimum payments/payment plans.

3. Have you tried to find a vet who will treat her for free?
Are there any other animal shelters in your area who could help?

Hang in there, kitty! :grouphug:

5. You may want to check a local vet.
Our vet will take injured strays that people bring in.
