37. we just got back from NY and you described it perfectly
it was a gluttonous vacation, and they have so much great (and fairly cheap) vegan and veggie food... :sigh:

I think most of what we did was walk around, eat, ride the subway; repeat

I want to go back and actually see some of the stuff I missed... We went to the MOMA and Central park and Coney Island and a bunch of restaurants. Sadly, Foodswings was closed, but it's highly recommended. It's such a tough call for me - on the one hand the whole city stinks like garbage and is crowded like nothing else, yet on the other hand, I loved seeing people from EVERYWHERE all together and I swear there is a city ordinance that there must be a Thai noodle shop on every other block.....

Edited on Tue Jul-11-06 01:29 PM by MikeH
If you feel for yourself that you need to shave your legs, go ahead and do it. Certainly as long as you are doing it for yourself.

However I want to say that I am a man who has had an attraction to hairy legs and other body hair on women since I was an adolescent.

It is one of those things that has sometimes bothered me, and that I have sometimes felt a little sad about, that almost anything has been acceptable in our society at some time or other since the 1960's, except for natural unshaven/hairy legs and other body hair on women.

And I know that there are other men who are also attracted to natural female body hair. In fact I suspect that there might be many who keep silent about it for fear of being ridiculed or ostracized.

I am glad that other people can be open about being gay (and I hope that does not change due to pressure from the religious right). Similarly I like being open about a heterosexual attraction for something that is outside the mainstream in this society.

40. Okay have fun. I personally dislike body hair on myself so I shave.
I have preference that my partner shave, but that's their decision and it's not really a big deal to me.

I don't care about that tool of the patriarchy crap. I rebel against the patriarchy in plenty of other ways.

So why have you suddenly decided to shave?

I think the original was somebody who was going to shave thier head.

I've shaved since I hit puberty and got pronounced body hair. I have really light skin and dark hair, so if I didn't the look would be less flower child and more great ape. More importantly I guess, I just think I look better that way.

48. I've been tempted to shave my head for years.
I'm just worried that it'll look weird or something. I look fine with short buzzed on the sides and back hair though. I should just do it one day. My hair goes so fast that I'd be back to my normal "just got a cut" length within three weeks probably.

I've never even had a short cut I liked, unfortunately. I have kind of a love hate relationship with my hair. I like how it looks long, but it's a monumental pain in the ass and I wish I could do something more convenient with it.

Sorry ladies, I'm a proud male feminist here, totally pro-women in every possible way, but hairy armpits and legs on women is just wrong. And yes, I've talked this over with my gal pals, and they agree with me.

I am sorry, but what you say is exactly like saying that being attracted to someone of the same sex is wrong, just because the majority of people are attracted to people of the opposite sex. Or like saying in the 1960's and 70's that men having long hair is wrong, and that men should always keep their hair short.

Should ALWAYS? Who says? Why?

I'm not saying that there should be some law forbidding women from having hairy armpits and legs, but dammit, they shouldn't expect people to find that attractive!

Women with lots of facial hair could certainly choose not to remove it, but they must realize that it doesn't make them look good. Sure men could choose not to wear deodorant, but they must realize they're going to stink and most people don't care for that.

People can do a lot of things that are frowned upon.

Because, there might be some sickies out there who like it, but, ew, I think most people around the globe in most developed countries would agree with the majority here, which includes myself.

Comparing this homosexuality or something is just not valid in my opinion.
