What things do you get so caught up in, that you forget to eat? |

Edited on Fri Jul-07-06 08:54 PM by Mayberry Machiavelli
For me the main thing would be any kind of computer game that I'm into. Actually not a bad diet except for the part where you become pasty and have no muscle tone.
School (past) and work (present) related things never do, because having a meal represents a "break" from those things.

1. ditto on computer games |

though often it isn't so much forgetting to eat so much as thinking "I'll eat as soon as I accomplish this task," and then putting it off a little further :)

2. If I'm really engrossed, I find that I'm just not hungry. |
|
I may notice, after a whole day has passed, that I feel a bit hungry, and then once I start eating I might be ravenous.
But I find that really being engrossed in something modifies my body's perception or experience of hunger.

4. I have never, ever understood the concept of "forgetting to eat." |
|
I have always had what I consider to be a "normal" appetite. That is to say, when it is time to eat, my body lets me know and THERE IS NO WAY I could "forget" to eat.

When I get the time and manage to get off my normal beaten path with a camera in my hands, time stops until I notice it's too dark to see. Blood sugar hit my shoes about then

I have been so busy at work these past few months that at the end of the day I realize I have not eaten or drank anything since the previous night. But not to worry. I have the greatest staff in the world and they bought me a case of bottled water, a case of Chex Mix, a case of cookies, and a case of nuts to make sure I eat. I'm also fat to begin with, so missing a few meals is not a physical crisis for me.
I really get absorbed in my work and fight tooth and nail to make sure my staff is taken care of in every way possible and get the tools they need to do their jobs. My success depends on them getting what they need. I consider myself extremely lucky that they realize that and are concerned enough about me to make sure my health does not suffer.
Man, I work with some awesome people.

When I was single I had some wicked eating disorders, not anorexia or anything, I'd simply get very involved in something and wouldn't recognize that I was hungry. Sometimes I'd throw a gallon of water or two in my car and go out to the desert to hike. I'd return when I ran out of water. Food simply wasn't a concern.
I got pneumonia once, probably exacerbated by my lack of calories, and that scared me enough to take better care of myself. Now that I'm married and have kids, nobody lets me forget to eat.
