I would suggest body armor and maybe titanium underwear, they have reputably eviscerated native hunters with one kick. At the zoo I worked in the chain link of the males enclosure was bowed out 2 feet from kicks.

On the other hand I knew the guy who first artificially inseminated and bred the species, which required getting a sperm donation from a conscious male and then implanting it in the female! A true hero of conservation.
