No reflection on DUers that live there, but I can't stand TX.
I love NY! It's awesome. Beautiful in the upstate particularly.
On Edit, and on second thought... I used to live in San Antonio, and I've never had better Tex-Mex anywhere. Great town for that.

15. You're more than welcome, my friend, anytime! |

It's been pretty rough here, in the last week or so, with terrible flooding. The Sacandaga, which is the pic I posted, is higher than anyone has ever seen it. It was pretty scary, both North and West of here, with flooding and people and entire docks, with boats, actually washed away! Yikes! But this weekend is supposed to be beautiful. About time, LOL!:D

21. And what am I supposed to be enjoying, my friend?! |
|
Not a great summer, so far, with rain or thunderstorms promised nearly everyday, and some very serious flooding. Where is Al Gore, when we need him?!:scared:
Here's my local weathercast, which I receive in e-mail. I need to make a 30 min. trip South to see my vet, which I make often, for dog meds. I thought tomorrow, since they're speculating about HAIL today, but now Tuesday looks bad, too. I joked with the vet staff that it always seems to rain when I come there. More than once, it's been blinding, so severe that I finally had to pull off the highway. But now I realize that this is just the way things are, in my little slice of Northern NY State...;(
Good morning, Rhiannon
Much of this week is going to be humid. It will be warm too through mid-week then after that it looks like the "atmospheric furnace" will turn up the thermostat to VERY HOT conditions to close out the work week, and we'll likely see the heat (and humidity) last through next weekend.
Today and tomorrow will feature another slow moving cold front (so what else is new!) passing across the region. This front will cause scattered storms and showers, each afternoon and evening. There is the chance for an isolated strong storm or two today accompanied by hail and possibly gusty winds. I think tomorrow has the better chance for severe storms.
The front will pass to our south tomorrow evening but stall just to the south of New York State and Long Island.
On Wednesday it will head back our way as a warm front bringing more showery and thundery weather.
Thereafter expect temperatures to go from warm on Thursday, to hot Friday through Sunday. There is the strong chance for a heat wave to develop over the area during this time. That means 3 consecutive days with daytime temps of 90 degrees or higher. It will be humid too.

Mostly good choices on the other states. Other than Vermont.
No relatively barren hickful state should be included, regardless of it's federal representation.

8. Hey! I voted for Vermont! |
|
I spent my summers, as a kid, at a camp near Burlington on Lake Champlain and guess I was feeling a bit nostalgic for it. It really is beautiful country... and it's chock full of liberals!!! :-)

12. Vermont was a big disappointment to me... |
|
I drove the whole state (took all of a day, well most of a day) checking out the towns where I might want to live. Burlington is great, but the rest of it ... big disappointment. But the countryside is beautiful.

16. My friend, whom I met on DU, recently moved to Vermont. |
|
She finds the political climate much more to her liking. And my summer camp was just South of Burlington, really beautiful country, friendly people, and, as I said, full of liberals...:-) I'm sorry that you were disappointed.:-(

It's true, it's the home of that drooling idiot Ted Stevens, but the scenery is absolutely spectacular. Nothing in the Lower 48 even comes close.

24. Montana. Clean air and water, breathtakingly beautiful every season, |

and the nicest people I've ever met.
I could walk half a mile outside my front door and hile up a Rocky Mountain.
I loved living there as a child.
