2. Mrs. V. and I both did these. I don't know whose is whose!
For her, it's skill. For me, it's patience and luck. And having a good camera doesn't hurt.

Thank you

3. Great pictures!
The yellow finches are very pretty. Unfortunately, we don't have these here, and no hummingbirds, too. :(

8. We do have a lot of finches here, but not this bright yellow.
Green finches, tits, balck birds, crows, swallows, ... I don't know all the names.

And yes, I just rescued a finch last week Ginger brought in. :hi:

11. "blur" -- it's the camera
It's automated, but I need to learn to use it manually.

13. The Carolina Wren has a distinctive song . . .
Edited on Sun Jul-09-06 02:34 PM by bertha katzenengel
tea kettle tea kettle tea kettle tea!

Sometimes more "tea kettles" in there. They're very happy birds. You can't see it in there but they have long white eyebrows -- can't miss 'em.

:loveya:

Edit: oh, yeah, you can see that eyebrow :)

14. love the pics! my hummingbirds piss me off...
they have no trouble telling me when they are out of food -- and will buzz busily about my head when i'm bring the feeders in or out of the house.

then after that they will fly away if i come anywhere near them -- then i'm the enemy.

sheesh.

15. Silly birds.
We get hummer fights. They seem very territorial.

17. lol. fight. all. the. time.
they sound like mini helicopters as they push each other around -- they go straight up in the air when they do it too.

i have one guy -- mojo -- he has lots of pinky/orange plumage around the head -- he thinks he own the feeders.

19. They are territorial and psycho.
And the females are just as maniacal. The Aztecs considered them an avatar of their god of war.

By the way, those are Ruby Throated Hummers.
