I had a horrible feeling in my stomach this morning when I saw |
|
that Hussein had been capatured.
This is a BIG boost for *. This will be used in campaign literature. It will make Dems and others who opposed the war look bad as well. I don't regret opposing shrub's war of aggression on Iraq but it sure will be hard for the candidates now, unless they press the Where's Osama issue but since a majority of Americans already believe that Hussein was behind 9/11/01 it hardly matters.
All of a sudden I am not confident he will lose in 2004.
Please boost my confidence in shrub's defeat in November 2004.
Look what he has going for him right now: Dow over 10,000 Hussein captured The pug CONvention is going to be in NYC around the time of the 9/11 anniversary A complacent and compliant right-wing corporate controlled media all too willing to act as an arm of the pentagon and white house press room. His administration did what his daddy did not, supposedly captured Hussein.
The conspiracy theorist in me says that if this is REALLY Hussein then why didn't * and his media minions not wait until Monday to announce his capture?
Needing encouragement that * can be defeated. Now the stuff about Halliburton overcharging the government will be placed on the back burner as the corporate media celebrates the capture of Hussein.
Not feeling hopeful right now. I have a lot of fear of what he could do if given a second term.

Stop being so worrisome!!! If you're going to go into next year's elections fearful, then stay on the sidelines.
You've got to go into this thing with a clear and sound mind and focus on getting the Democratic agenda across.

2. I am glad Saddam is in jail |
|
He deserves to be nowhere else. Do not worry. Bush has a lot to fuck up between now and 2004. We'll have him in jail one day. Don't worry.

3. Okay, first of all, stop and breathe...that's good! |
|
Clark has come out right away and thanked the military men w/o mention of Bush - great move.
Bush will give a press conference, but you know he can't talk plus he will be asked to explain why his strategery on capturing Osama hasn't worked.
Dow over 10,000 - great for the repigs; jobless recovery for the people
We can use the daddy thing against him - again; and, hey, can't we please throw in the Bush/Nazi connections in this time...just to keep the fact that 80% of Jews vote dem intact in 2004?
Also, I suggest you hang on for more of a bumpy ride...he'll have more successes before the election; but none will be for the people. We need to hammer 'US out; UN in now, more than ever' - that will infuriate him.
And, I am sorry to say, but there will be more unemployed people by November as well. I am registering and driving people from homeless shelters to register and then to vote (or mail the damn absentee).
Antidote to fear: ACTION!

6. Oh I'll keep working and informing others about * |
|
and how he is not the friend of the working person as he claims to be.
It's just that our task has just been made a bit more difficult.
Remember....
Osama's bin forgotten...
WHERE'S OSAMA?
Most of the hijackers were from SAUDI ARABIA
Bin Laden family members were escorted out of the US in a private plane
I tell people these things and because it is not repeated ad infinitum on ABC, CBS, NBC, Faux, CNN etc they tend not to believe it or forget it in favor of the latest Michael Jackson story.
I'm glad to hear that one of the candidates has come out and thanked the troops and not shrubby.

Van Den Heuvel from The Nation tries to bring this up - media makes it tough
Maybe we could email lotsa media and beg them to have reporters ask about those ties and the original prize: Osama
(BTW, I do understand how you feel; that's part of why DU is such a good thing; one of us gets down, share it! and we'll 'get by with a little help from our friends')

give an immediate bump to this administration, but we still have to liberate ourselves. Unless he speeds up giving Iraq an actual government by Iraqis it will only drag on. I hope this emboldens the Iraqis to form their own government whatever it turns out to be. I only hope Syria is not on the list of preemptive war by the WH. If an orderly withdrawal cannot be achieved by the US it is not over.

8. At least now Bush has done it 1 year before the elections |
|
that will it will not sway voters a year from now.
We just need to hammer home that this does not reflect on Bush, but the military and intel. We also need to show that Bush is a corrupt, venal, useless puppet of neocons and Cheney.

9. I agree about him being a puppet of Cheney and I recall |
|
hearing or reading SOMEWHERE that Cheney was being perceived as a political liability on account of his still VERY close ties to Halliburton and their overcharging the government.

A good election strategy is to focus on Cheney---he is really unlikable and widely percieved as being in Halliburton's pocket. A very big liability

15. None of us should have been confident, ever |
|
That's not to say we should all be pessimistic! But with his* popularity, before now, being over 50%... The people are so fickle yet blind, Bush could have dropped a nuke on Syria last week and get pissed, but cheer for him today when his bed-buddy Saddam gets captured, no thanks to US forces might I add (and you know the American public is going to ignore that tidbit of information)...
Time will tell. There's 10 months to go, anything could happen. A lot has already happened though, and if people don't remember all of those moments (and they haven't), he might well be legitimately elected this time.
