2. I know, there seems to be an assumption that it is necessary
to stand up to the bully in order to improve your character. Therefore, the bully is only carrying out a necessary function of society.

The aim is always toward getting the bully's victim to stand up to him, never to go after the damn bully for being such an asshole.

3. Well, it's never the problem that's the problem. Only the symptom.

Hence the bully wants the victim to remain victimized. The greater the oppresion, the easier the compliance. Though if people preferred to work together, more would be done.

4. It gets the weak out of the gene pool
It's a completely atavistic response that fortunately tends to be offset by compassion, empathy and nurturing.

6. For better, more informed responses to your question, you might try

If you haven't already, that is. It's a pretty good place to read up on issues and discussion about our abuser-loving society and what you can do to empower yourself over its collectively unacceptable structure. Good luck!

10. I didn't think we did "protect" bullies. I thought we admonished them.

12. Bullies are often great socializers - our society loves socializers
I was bullied all through school. The principal said I should socialize better and praised the bully.
