It's the First Annual BBQ and DU Meetup in JulieRB's backyard!

Hello everyone,

I talked about this with SeattleGirl (good job on the quitting smoking, woman!) and flamingyouth when I saw them at the Seattle DU meetup a few months back. We love meeting other DU'ers, so Mr. JulieRB and I would like to have a barbecue and meetup for DU'ers in our backyard this August. We have a couple of dates to choose from; pick one, and let us know!

This is a potluck. We'll be posting information on that and many other subjects later; let's just get a date nailed down and move forward...

She's the only DU person I've ever met in real life.

My SO and I were at a Bartcop event in DC and didn't know anyone - we felt really awkward, because the other folks knew each other from the message boards, and I had just started reading BartCop, so I didn't know a SOUL (except James Carville and Joe Conason, but THEY didn't know US)

JulieRB greeted us like we were old friends and made us feel right at home. One of the warmest, funniest, friendliest and most welcoming, comfortable people I've ever met. Not in a "join my cult" way either! B-)

Poor David Brock. He's probably still wondering how he spent an entire evening with that group!

We were so happy to meet so many truly wonderful people. That must have been the first "bloggers gathering" -- the guy who publishes BuzzFlash was there, Atrios was there, BartCop and the lovely Mrs. BartCop. There were several others whose handles I don't remember at the moment. It was quite a party!

Of course, there was the gorgeous Patiod and her SO. She is every bit as funny, warm and friendly as she accuses me of being ;-)!
