Good Monday Morning, Crew!

:hi::donut:
Welcome to the Monday edition of the Early Morning Crew thread! :bounce: I hope you had a GREAT weekend, everybody! :bounce: It was very very busy for me at the store, so the weekend seemed to fly by. That's the good thing about being so slammed in retail. It was so busy yesterday that I didn't even have time for a lunch break. x(

And now here we are at Monday. The start of a new work week! I'm off today and tomorrow, so I guess this is technically MY weekend! :woohoo: Greekspeak and I have a friend in from Missouri and we've enjoyed having her here the past couple of days! We took her to the beach last night, (Missouri is landlocked you know) and it was a good time! It was low tide though, so the water was WAAAY far away, and so we walked through the wet sand looking for shells and found a big hermit crab (or SOME kind of crab anyway)! Of course, we let him go after we'd checked him out!

So, are you ready to get this new week started? Time to rise and shine, my crew! :bounce:

Or fourteen nights, to be most accurate.

I want the next four days to go quickly, and then the following 15 to go very slowly. :D

We had such a great time in Rome that the days flew by. I wish we could go again. Are you going to be able to get on DU at all during those two weeks, or are you going to be absent?

I will have access
Sandra is on DU, so I will certainly be able to get on myself. But, you know, I'm hoping to be doing stuff other than DU most of the time, so you may not see me so much.

She will be at work most days though, so I will be on my own much of the time. I dare say you will see me at times then, although you will be a little too early for me. You will be three hours ahead of me, then.

Well, I'm sure you'll find a good person sooner or later to fill the position. Give yourself at least 3 people to choose from! That's what I always do. I've made the mistake of hiring the first person I interviewed, and regretted it.

You did better than me yesterday. I didn't even do laundry. I just vegetated. But what do you expect? I went to bed around 2am but woke up already at 8am again. Not acceptable on a Sunday. Good thing was it rained, so I had an excuse to stay inside :)

I wish it would rain here, sure could use some. Yesterday was very hot and humid and I don't have air conditioning in my place, so that was my excuse for not doing much! Today it seems almost cold. Wish there was a happy medium.

How was your weekend with your friend in Twin City?

It is hot again today. Not much cooling down yesterday. As my apt doesn't have A/C either the temps inside tend to be in the higher 70s.

61. Had a great time
in the Twin Cities. We went to the Museum of Arts, spent most of the day there. They've got a great collection of Japanese woodblock prints. We also got some canoeing in. Wish I would have brought my camera canoeing. We got really close to a blue heron. It was just sitting sunning itself on a log. Those birds are just huge, but graceful. Never fails, when there's a good shot, my camera is in the car. We also took a pasta class and learned how to us one of those pasta machines. Always wanted to try that. Those machines always intimidated me, but not anymore. It's really very easy to use.

Gotta be heading out for work now. Wishing you a good day.

Though in your case it's quite a relative term. ;)

I managed to sleep very well last night, which was good, but that was mostly caused by only getting about 4 hours sleep on Saturday night.

I guess getting a late start is the order of the day today. I did too. I fell asleep on the couch and woke up at around 1:30am, then went to bed and didn't want to get out again. I finally dragged my little butt out of it at 5:45.

She's leaving back for Missouri in the morning. Greekspeak was going to go with her and then his father and he was going to go on a trip to the east coast to see some family, and then back here to Tallahassee. But, I don't think he's going to get to go now. Don't you hate it when something comes up and ruins your plans? x(

52. Sometimes it feels good to sleep in.
:loveya: Harleydad had an alarm set for 5:30 and then turned it off and rolled back over. The kitties weren't bothering us for some reason.

Oh, I'm sorry Greekspeak's plans didn't work out. Yep, I do hate it when that happens! Tell him I'm sorry ... here's a hug for him.

One of the "puttering" things we did yesterday was to make a gate for the deck. I'll take a picture of it when I get around to it. Friday night, I was sitting out there just starting to eat my supper and a HUGE dog came bounding up and tried to take my food away. I couldn't get inside because he was SO fast, he would have gotten in with me. And the cats were watching the whole thing, getting upset. He got his front paws right up on the table! He's a puppy, about 6-8 months old, but he's as big as I am and I don't know if he'd have gotten mean if I whacked him with my magazine. I tried to get him to follow me out into the yard, but he liked the smell of my food too much. I screamed for all I was worth, but no one heard me or came ... even though the teenager next door was chasing the ducks around with a stick, well within earshot. (And the dog belongs to his cousin!) FINALLY, the little white dog from the other side came running over and scared him off. We went to Lowe's yesterday and bought wood for the gate and I made it, with harleydad's supervision. It turned out pretty cool! :bounce:

Thank you, my dear! Tony sometimes gets that way when we're trying to eat dinner too. He's big enough now that he can jump up and put his paws on my shoulders nearly! And plus, he's 76 pounds now, so he's a big boy too.

I can't wait to see those pictures! :bounce::hug:

74. But you KNOW Tony.
And if he gets out of hand, you know you could discipline him. It's different when you don't even have a clue if the dog would get mean. My neighbor's don't even know. I just hate it when people let their dogs run loose ... but I was REALLY glad Sugar (that's the little dog's name) was around! She's a great little dog and doesn't get obnoxious.

If I have time, I'll do pictures today. First, I have to figure out how much money we spent on Saturday (LOTS of it!). We ended up paying for everything, mostly because that's the right thing for parents to do when they go somewhere with the kids.

77. That's true. You don't want to discipline a strange dog...
they might take a mind to bite your arm off or something. :scared: I'm glad Sugar showed up to rescue you too! Speaking of spending money...I STILL need to get to CompUSA to get a new Router. This old one has been really acting up the past two days. x(

78. Oh, yeah, the router!
I thought that was today's project? Well, the day isn't over yet. :bounce: Get a good one, OK? :D

I left out another important part of the new stray dogs plan ... I got a couple air horns to leave out there. I told my neighbors that if they hear the horn, something's wrong. :D Harleydad told me to try a little toot on it to see what it sounded like. Holy smokes, you could probably hear it for miles! And it's one of the higher-pitched ones, so the dog would probably avoid me for life if I blasted that near him!

83. ROFL!
Oh my! Yes, those air horns are LOUD! I think you've probably gotten something that WILL work if he does it again! I know exactly which one I'm going to get today, it's just a matter of going to the store. It has a card that I'll install into Greekspeaks laptop that will make his connection about five times faster than he has now!

OK, so as soon as you get your crew safely going, you can get your router. :bounce:  I'm still sitting here in my jammies, but at least I've finished breakfast. Harleykid just called and asked me the silliest question (Does Dad miss being a dad or something?).

93. It means ...
he asked her if she needed help attaching something to her car that wasn't on right. At firsts, she was offended. She knows how to do it right, after all. But she just hasn't done it yet. So now she has concluded that they need to spend more time together.

I have to get going, too. Drat! x( I haven't even washed last night's dinner dishes yet. (That's VERY unusual for me! :scared:)

26. Morning Clint!
My weekend flew by too. It was really hot and humid here yesterday, so I really didn't do just too much of anything.

Went to a movie though, "Tsotsi". It was a very powerful film. Won an academy for best foreign language film, and I can see why. Takes place in South Africa. It's a story about a young man who was orphaned very early, and how he and his buddies survive, what they have to do to survive. Very disturbing, how some people are forced to live.

:hi::hug:
It was hot and humid down here too...all weekend long. But, I like it hot, so it didn't bother me! Ive heard about "Tsotsi", but only that it won the award. I've never seen it, though. It sounds like a powerful film. They didn't have to sell their bodies did they? :scared:

45. Yes, it was a good
film. If you get a chance to see it, I highly recommend it. No, they didn't have to sell their bodies, just their souls. Lost their youth. There was a Q and A after the film with a local professor who is from South Africa. That was an added bonus. Good discussion.

Ah, I like the hot weather too Clint. So why do I live in Wisconsin?

I'll have to see if I can find it at "Hollywood Video" and watch it! Hey, if you like hot weather, come live here in Florida! It's not called the "Sunshine State" for nothing, you know! I love it because you can wear shorts all year round, nearly!

Sounds like you're having a great time with your friend. I used to catch sand crabs when I was a kid and let them crawl on my arms. Ha! Seems kind of gross now. :D

Didn't sleep well again, but at least I'm in a decent mood, and I'm getting some caffeine into my system as I type, so that's all the better.

Yes, we've had a good time so far! When we are kids, we do all kinds of things that are gross to us as adults. My little sister would catch lightning bugs, pull off their butts and put it on her finger like it was a ring! YUCK!

Yeah, I used to play with daddy long legs, and roll around in mud, and hitch-hike across town. :o

Ah, to be a kid again.

"Don't let them get between your fingers or they'll bite you! Thats the only place they can bite!" my little brother used to say. I was big into my bicycle. I'd ride everyplace! Young and innocent. No stress, no worries...I'd love to go back again too, my dear.

Whenever adults would say that when I was a kid I would just roll my eyes at them and shake my head. "Stupid adults. They have no idea how hard it is to be a kid."

I really had NO idea what I was talking about. :D
