Some say yes, some say no.

1. In what?
Music? Literature? Fashion? Cuisine? Art? Film? That's such a broad statement as to be meaningless. Not to mention that 'Americans' and 'Europeans' are useless and overly broad categories, when 'American' includes people from New York, LA, Cleveland, Oklahoma City, Little Rock, Seattle, etc., and 'European' includes people from London, Milan, Reykjavik, Warsaw, Bucharest, and so on...

Taste is such a subjective thing that there's no way to answer, and in any case I'd submit that by and large the 'average' European probably has taste about on a par with the 'average' American, just different thanks to the influence of a different culture and society.

2. Not better--but different.
Both have good taste in what their culture has to offer.

7. The Hoff is a net draw. Americans eventually rejected Lewis.
The Hoff is transcendent and international, not unlike Robert Vaughn.
