http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=3628599

and its obvious copycat:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=3628891

and now....exqactly one year later, it happened again. they gave me an unwanted pickle, and my fries now taste like pickle juice.

what are the odds of that happening? :tinfoilhat:

2. well, no, it's just that
i was eating these fries and feeling sorry for myself because of the pickle juice and then i thought about the last time it happened and that people here actually thought i called the guy in the dining center an asshole so i looked up the thread and lo and behold it was EXACTLY ONE YEAR AGO so i thought i would mark the occasion with a thread and a follow-up ridiculously long run-on sentence. thanks for asking.

5. Here - let me fish it out of the trash for you.
I like pickles, but don't want my breath to smell like them for the rest of the day at work. :) Plus the pickle juice makes my fries soggy. :hi:

9. Their calender has the wrong date marked for Pickle Day
Edited on Wed Jul-12-06 12:08 PM by Ptah
International Pickle Day is a free multi-cultural celebration of pickling from around the world featuring exhibits, stories and pickle facts, and of course, a tasty sampling of pickled goods - and not just cucumbers. Anything that gets preserved in brine – radishes, tomatoes, okra, cabbage, fish, meat, carrots, beans, onions, eggs, limes, mangos, peaches, and beets will illustrate a host of pickling traditions from the immigrant communities of India, Germany, Poland, China, Japan, Scandinavia, Korea, Vietnam, the Middle East, Africa and more.

Pickle Facts:
1. Mentioned at least twice in the Bible.
2. Aristotle praised their healing effects.
3. Julius Caesar made his army eat them.
4. Cleopatra said they made her beautiful.
5. Sailors ate them to prevent scurvy.
6. George Washington loved pickles.

10. I'll give you my unsatisfactory pat explanation, which you've seen before.
". . . in the specific case of coincidences ... there is an unspecified element, which makes the probability of coincidences higher than we otherwise might have thought. Although the person is specific (you), we do not specify what kind of coincidence will take place . . . I'm not saying coincidence is common - only that it's not as rare as we think. The reason is that the aggregation of causes happens in so many possible ways that eventually a coincidence becomes unavoidable."

Chance by Amir D. Aczel

Looking at it another way, remember that your computer broke because bettyellen sat on it. I think she's probably involved in the pickle conspiracy as well.
