SAN FERNANDO, California (AP) -- Joey Buttafuoco, who gained notoriety in the 1990s when his teenage girlfriend shot his wife in the face in New York, was sentenced to a year in jail Tuesday after pleading no contest to possessing ammunition as a felon.

Probation officers found the ammunition during a search of his home in Chatsworth, California, last August.

Buttafuoco had been sentenced to a year in jail and five years' probation in March 2004 after pleading guilty to insurance fraud.

Prosecutors said Buttafuoco, who co-owned an auto body shop in the San Fernando Valley, told undercover investigators how to file false claims and cheat insurance companies. Buttafuoco, 50, was ordered to report to jail on November 1.

Saturday Night Live lampooned it all with a skit in which the BBC produced their own in a treatment for "Masterpiece Theater." (Danny DeVito was wicked — instead of pronouncing Joey's last name as "Butta-foo-co," he gave it clear, proper, British enunciation: "Butta-foo-oh-co.")

....Jan Hooks and Danny DeVito were HILARIOUS in that one!!!!! :D

3. I remember it, and DeVito KILLED in that sketch.

This new show "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" is kind of hit and miss, but it's worth watching for a completely rotten DeVito character, completely devoid of any shred of conscience. He looks like he's having a great time in the role.

But I just have to say--the way the media pronounces Italian names is a travesty--and then it propagates, and before you know it, everyone in the country is mispronouncing them--and then I catch hell for pronouncing the names correctly in polite company.

"Buttafuoco" = "beaut-uh-foo-OH-co", not "butt-a-FOO-co"

"Schiavo" = "shee-AH-vo", not "SHY-vo"

5. The News Radio Episode

where Matthew (Andy Dick) mispronounces the name on air is one of the funniest things I've ever seen on television. They never reveal how Matthew actually pronounced the name but I think we all know.
