2. Saw her in concert a few years ago
And just stood there with my mouth hanging open, saying "She is 58 years old. She is 58 years old."

5. I had the same experience.
She was totally amazing.
I had the extreme good fortune of being invited by her label to meet her before the concert. She was gracious and kind and DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. It's not all airbrushing...she is aging incredibly well.

4. Ok. If I wore a rubber outfit, I'd have that facial expression too
Edited on Wed Jul-12-06 01:11 PM by HypnoToad
after making a lil' whoopsie... :wow:

She's awesome, no doubt about it. Great choice of songs too! A pity he's a degenerate ass for ecoming a wife beater, but as a musical duo they were the best ever. The talent, the chemistry, the looks, the lyrics, the music, you name it - they were sublime. Period.

I loved the first clip despite the poor audio quality. I wish somebody would take the time to restore the film and audio quality, that performance is kick-ass.

"A Fool in Love" is another classic...

And, OMG, Soul Train! :D :D 1972 freakin' ROCKS. Ike aged well since 1964 too. Still, it was around this time he started being so vile... :(

Hmmm, I was born in 1972... I need to start rocking.

Oh, here's a live version of Proud Mary (1970) - SWEET! The choreography (and camerawork) is great too: http://youtube.com/watch?v=22xZJ7D3Xkg&mode=related&search=tina%20turner%20proud%20mary

:wow:

And if you want to see a mundane, copycat-style performance by Beyonce, complete with you-know-who in the audience... http://youtube.com/watch?v=WFdFCvdIRuY&mode=related&search=tina%20turner%20proud%20mary

18. God Dayum! God Dayum!
Tina was one of those artists who reached her peak at an older age. Those old clips you posted were okay, but damn she was great in her later years. I regret that I never saw her live.

God Dayum!

But you're right - she just keeps getting better.

I've seen her live twice - I consider myself extremely lucky.

28. does anybody have a link with Tina doing this song????

When I was a little girl I had a rag doll
The only doll Ive ever owned
Now I love you just the way I loved that rag doll
But only now my love has grown
And it gets stronger in every way
And it gets deeper let me say
And it gets higher day by day

Do I love you my oh my
River deep, mountain high
If I lost you would I cry
Oh how I love you baby, baby, baby, baby

When you were a young boy did you have a puppy
That always followed you around
Well Im gonna be as faithful as that puppy
No Ill never let you down
Cause it goes on and on like a river flows
And it gets bigger baby and heaven knows
And it gets sweeter baby as it grows

Do I love you my oh my
River deep, mountain high
If I lost you would I cry
Oh how I love you baby, baby, baby, baby

I love you baby like a flower loves the spring
And I love you baby like a robin loves to sing
And I love you baby like a schoolboy loves his bag
And I love you baby river deep mountain high

29. I want to have a body like that when I grow up.
It's pretty inspiring to see that she's in better shape than I have any hope of ever being when she's almost old enough to be my grandmother. She's shockingly talented too.

Chicago DJ Larry Lujack said that back in the 80's and for some reason it's stuck with me...
