21. Lefty Frizzell & Dotty West - You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma...
There's a full moon over Tulsa,
I hope that it's shining on you.
The nights are getting cold,
In Cherokee County.
There's a Blue Norther passing through.
I remember green eyes and a ranchers daughter.
But remember is all that I do.
Losing you left a pretty good cowboy,
With nothing to hold on to.
Sundown came and I drove to town,
And drank a drink or two.
You're the reason God made Oklahoma,
You're the reason God made Oklahoma.
And I'm sure missing you,
I'm sure missing you.

Here the city lights out shine the moon
I was just now thinking of you.
Sometimes when the wind blows you can
See the mountains,
And all the way to Malibu.
Everyone's a star here in L.A. County,
You ought to see the things that they do
All the cowboys down on the Sunset Strip
Wish that they could be like you.
The Santa Monica Freeway,
Sometimes makes a country girl blue
You're the reason God made Oklahoma,
You're the reason God made Oklahoma.
And I'm sure missing you.

I work 10 hours on a John Deere tractor,
Just thinking of you all day.

I've got a calico cat and a 2 room flat,
On a street in West L.A.

You're the reason God made Oklahoma,
You're the reason God made Oklahoma.
And I'm sure missing you,
I'm sure missing you.

It was Shelly West, Dottie's daughter, who sang that.
Shelly sang it with David Frizzell, Lefty's younger brother.

the list of songs on this album of David Frizzell & Shelly West. I have that album. :)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000000RNK/ref=pd_rvi_gw_2/102-6577112-3274564?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=5174

I can understand your confusion about the mp3 you referred to. Whoever made that list was wrong. I've downloaded songs before that were credited to the wrong artist. However I've yet to find an album with the same mistake. Although whoever listed the songs at Amazon did misspell Oklahoma as Oaklahoma.

63. Entire album. Ella and Louis. The one with Louis Armstrong and
his white socks hanging around his ankles! Every song is an absolute gem. How could you not love every song on this?

So I'm the rocker in the group!!

Close Your Eyes

Baby
I get so scared inside, and I don't really understand
Is it love that's on my mind, or is it fantasy?
Heaven
Is in the palm of my hand, and it's waiting here for you
What am I supposed to do with a childhood tragedy?

If I close my eyes forever
Will it all remain unchanged?
If I close my eyes forever
Would it all remain the same?

Sometimes
It's hard to hold on
So hard to hold on to my dreams
It isn't always what it seems
When you're face to face with me

you're Like a dagger
You stick me in the heart
And taste the blood from my blade
And when we sleep, would you shelter me
In your warm and darkened grave?

If I close my eyes forever
Would it all remain unchanged?
If I close my eyes forever
Will it all remain the same?

Will you ever take me?
No, I just can't take the pain
But would you ever trust me?
No, I'll never feel the same,Oh

(solo)

I know I've been so hard on you
I know I've told you lies
If I could have just one more wish
I'd wipe the cobwebs from my eyes

If I close my eyes forever
Would it all remain unchanged?
If I close my eyes forever
Will it all remain the same?

Close your eyes
Close your eyes
You gotta close your eyes for me

Yeah, it's a cover of Gram Parsons's classic, but it's Dayton's king and queen of indie rock together. Very worth your ears' time.

That's probably my favorite pop music duet, albeit much older pop music.

95. "In Spite of Ourselves" John Prine & Iris Dement. n/t
She don't like her eggs all runny
She thinks crossin' her legs is funny
She looks down her nose at money
She gets it on like the Easter Bunny
She's my baby I'm her honey
I'm never gonna let her go

He ain't got laid in a month of Sundays
I caught him once and he was sniffin' my undies
He ain't too sharp but he gets things done
Drinks his beer like it's oxygen
He's my baby
And I'm his honey
Never gonna let him go

In spite of ourselves
We'll end up a'sittin' on a rainbow
Against all odds
Honey, we're the big door prize
We're gonna spite our noses
Right off of our faces
There won't be nothin' but big old hearts
Dancin' in our eyes.

She thinks all my jokes are corny
Convict movies make her horny
She likes ketchup on her scrambled eggs
Swears like a sailor when shaves her legs
She takes a lickin'
And keeps on tickin'
I'm never gonna let her go.

He's got more balls than a big brass monkey
He's a wacked out werido and a lovebug junkie
Sly as a fox and crazy as a loon
Payday comes and he's howlin' at the moon
He's my baby I don't mean maybe
Never gonna let him go

In spite of ourselves
We'll end up a'sittin' on a rainbow
Against all odds
Honey, we're the big door prize
We're gonna spite our noses
Right off of our faces
There won't be nothin' but big old hearts
Dancin' in our eyes.
There won't be nothin' but big old hearts
Dancin' in our eyes.

(spoken) In spite of ourselves
