How many of you own a pair of Doc Marten boots?
I've always had a pair of Doc Martens for at least the last 20 years. Back in my 20s, I would wear them almost daily.

I am now 37 and I still own a pair, but I only wear them on occassion, like today, when it was pouring down rain here. And once this pair wears out, whenever that day comes, I will buy another pair for I think it is a classic shoe.

This is what I have. What about you?

2. Oxfords, not boots...
although I'm looking for a replacement for my next pair, now that Docs are made in China and not the UK (I've a friend who has a made-in-China pair, and the quality definitely seems to've suffered).

5. I stopped buying them when they started making them in CHINA!
FYI, for everyone who doesn't know, all Docs are now made in CHINA. And even though the prices haven't gone down, the quality sure has.

The few pairs of Docs that I do own, and love, all have the MADE IN ENGLAND seal on them and they shall be the last Docs I ever own!

9. I had to check mine
They say "Made in England" on the sole. Of course, they are at least five years old. I didn't know about the China thing until this thread.

17. I checked mine as well
All have "Made in England" on the bottom of the sole.

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't know about the China thing. I guess I won't get those boots I posted further down on this thread.

7. Three pairs.
My "beater" Doc Martens that are probably about 9 years old. There's a hole in the side of the right boot and they're generally scraped-up and paint splattered. They've spent a lot of time in the woods and in a scene shop.

I also have a pair of steel toe purple Docs and a pair of black Mary Janes. I like the Mary Janes because they're cute, comfortable and still a work shoe.

16. I thought of that
I doubt if I will wear them often enough to get tired of lacing them though. If I do, I will have my cobbler put a zipper in the back. :)

25. oxfords and mary janes.
Not boots (I don't wear boots).

Mine are NOS, ebayed and/or old. I'll buy the pre-china ones and ones that I can confirm are made in the US or England, but they've lost some of our business by moving a factory to China.

My husband wears the steel toes, which are still manufactured in england (according to the tag on the sole of the boot.) He's a motorcyclist, so he has to wear good boots.

26. I have 4 pair of Doc Marten shoes, no boots
My favorite pair of Docs are black, 3-eye shoes. I've had them since '92 and they've survived a whole lot, including being run over by a car to break them in. :)

30. 8-eye black Greasy Gibsons
There is a crack across the bottom of the left one and they have no tread left, but they're still fine. They're my...6th pair, lifetime? They last a long time.
