My NEW pet peeve:
Trapped in my insomnia hell, I'm watching Up To The Minute on CBS and the idiot teleprompter reader is smiling as she reads the horrible statistics regarding the high numbers of PTSD among US soldiers. Seriously. The idiot has a smile on her face. I've been conditioned to not expect great journalism anymore but is it too much to ask to have the facial expressions match the mood of the story being reported?

People are stupid. And I can't sleep. x(

Do you have any new pet peeves??

1. Don Henley said it best
We got the bubble-headed bleach-blonde who comes on at five
She can tell you bout the plane crash with a gleam in her eye
Its interesting when people die
Give us dirty laundry

3. Sometimes the overnight news readers can be very funny...
I worked nights for a lot of years, which explains the reason I'm still up now (plus I also have insomnia). And there was little on TV, early on, when I got home. So I used to tune into one of the NY stations, looking for anything. They had old movies, with news breaks, with just a nighttime scene on the screen. This was back in the '80s. And, one time, the poor news reader had a coughing fit. She kept trying, then started coughing again, then just broke down. She started into this painful rant about how she had been so sick and just couldn't help it... I laughed, at the time, but I also felt sorry for her. If it had happened today, I would have sent her a get well card...:-)

6. Kimberly Hunt on KUSI-TV in San Diego does that every day!
Typical of her would be on one of those quick "newsbreak" things in between commercials, she will say, "The death count triples in yesterday's earthquake! We'll have the latest update in 30 minutes on the KUSI news!" and her facial expressions while she is saying this are the expressions of someone who just ate a piece of banana cream pie and is thinking, "Oh, look at that cute puppy! Aw how cute! He just rolled over!" Completely incongruous, and she does it all the time.

9. And here's a picture of her...

No matter how tragic, horrifying or disturbing the story is, this is the face you see.

7. These days the execs are only interested in
ratings, and they hope hiring eye-candy will do the trick. These vaucous bubbleheads are an embarrassment. I think part of the problem is that they don't understand what they're reading.

10. To be fair to George....
He doesn't have a denial smile. It's more of a "I'm going to stand here and pretend I know what the hell is going on and I hope this smirk is enough" smile.
