US Citizen Torturing Cows in Pamplona, Spain Gets Thrown, Paralyzed
Isn't it time they stopped this idiocy in Spain?

http://www.star-gazette.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060713/NEWS01/607130326/1001

<snip>

Ducharme, 31, has developed a fever, and nurses are constantly by his side, according to a posting Wednesday on the Web site, www.pray4ray.com, set up after the incident to collect prayers for the man and share information about his condition.

The site says Ducharme's insurance company has agreed to pay for his flight home to Charlotte, N.C., where he works as bond trader for Bank of America. However, finding a flight for the injured man and his family may be difficult because of a pilot strike in Spain, the site explained.

<snip>

Ducharme underwent surgery to reattach two vertebrae, is paralyzed in the legs and has partial use of his arms, according to a report from a government representative in Spain.

He was injured Friday in a side event to the annual festival in Pamplona. He was among hundreds who taunted five cows in a bull ring, pulling their ears and chasing their tails. The cows are smaller than fighting bulls and have less imposing horns, but they still weigh hundreds of pounds and can be threatening. Ducharme was thrown by a young cow.

that I have any sympathy for that idiot. He asked for it.

14. And yet one of the virtues I love about my fellow dems,
is they tend to have a greater capacity for
empathy.

If we don't hold onto and cherish that, we are truly doomed.

15. I am a bleeding heart liberal, believe it or not. However, my heart...
...does not bleed for bullies hurt, even severely, in the act of bullying.

I don't even have enough blood in there for all the innocent people, especially children, who are hurt or killed while just trying to survive, but I keep on squeezing because they're worth it...

This guy! If my mother was alive I know just what she'd say: "You see, this is what you get when you hurt other things for your enjoyment." And she'd be right...

6. US citizen who eats cows doesn't care.
Nor does he enjoy the moralistic schadenfruede aspect in the tone of those who seem to derive pleasure from the man's injury.

18. Not caring about suffering
whether the animal be human or nonhuman does not make you morally superior.

That Grizzly guy was a f'ing nut. That part where he was hugging a teddy bear in his tent as the rain pours down outside, talking about how great and friendly bears are... geez.

Talk about natural selection. :P

20. I found his relationship with the family of foxes more fascinating..
...than his relationship with the bears. He should have stuck with them. Foxes - steal your favorite hat. Bears - eat your spleen.

10. Silly, childish man.
What a stupid way to have piddled away his well being: bullying truly helpless creatures which couldn't escape.

13. Man being a dick to frightened animals is badly hurt. Well....HOORAY!
That's all I've gotta say. Hoo-fucking-ray! I'd be happy to go on national TV and say the same. What a dick. Really. I'm sorry for his family who will now have repeat at Ray's request, should he survive, whatever more-noble story he'll concoct for the reason he's wheelchair bound.

Good luck with the rest of your life, Ray! Hope you do something a little more sensible with it, it's the only one you've got. By the way, the reason why your bond-trader friends aren't coming by so much anymore...well, I'll let you figure that one out.

This isn't quite "Nazi guard accidentally inhales Zyklon-B, family urgently requests prayers and donations" but it's in the same sick ballpark.

19. The idiocy will continue as long as people pay for it.
A quick review of the world around us reveals the demand for entertainment of the heartless and the stupid is at a level unseen since imperial Rome.
