**Help me name my new cat!**
Okay, so I don't have him yet. Heh. But I am going to an adoption day for one of the local shelters on Saturday and I know what I'm going to get. An adult, male cat, kind of dopey and affectionate.

I know I should wait and see what he's like before I decide on the final name, but I want to have a short list of 5 or so to choose from, just to narrow things down.

To give you an idea of my taste, I am leaning right now toward "Lex Luthor".

Any suggestions welcome! I prefer people names to things like "Fluffy".

We'll have to see how slick he is though. I think you have to be pretty slick to be named Miles.

26. I had a cat called Miles for that same reason.
Plus, he had a skinny triangular head and looked a little like Miles Davis.

10. An adult cat would probably be a turn-in.. don't re-name him right away
He will already have a name and will be scared at first.. Just add a name that will be apparent once he worms his way into your heart,..

Our Sammy, soon became Bubby, even though Sammy suits him too.. He's just such a Bubby...and sometimes Blubby, because he is HUUUUGE

13. I had to give up Oliver because he, well a lot of reasons[pic heavy]
But he was sweet and I miss him. Let's just say he was placed in a home where there are no other cats and where he can't get out to bring back live animals to "play" with. Now that I am thinking about it maybe that is not the best name.

18. when you get him, if you will post a pic... I might be able to tell
you what his name is. Sometimes the kitties on here talk to me. Several of them have told me their names. They all said in the end it didn't matter what their humans called them as long as they were called for supper. One kitty did have issues with his nickname...I think it was stinky or something like that. His real name was something cool (I forget now, the details). Anyway who among us would want to be known as stinky?

Just be ready to get credit card applications in the mail within six months for him, though.

Kind of handy when someone calls or rings the doorbell, you can always use the excuse, "I have to go now, Mr. Smith is cranky and is demanding his supper." or

"I'd love to talk to you some more, but Mr. Smith needs his toenails clipped and we have to chase him down to do it." or

"Sorry I can't let you in right now to discuss the Watchtower, Mr. Smith just got out of the bath and is lying on my bed waiting to get his tummy rubbed."

82. Lyndon Johnson
I wanted to name our boy cat that but my wife didn't like it so much. I'm not a big fan of LBJ's I just thought it would be cool to have a cat named Lyndon Johnson.

92. I once named a cat 'Algeber' (mispronunciation of Algebra) after the mule

on the Little Rascals.

I had another cat I named 'Bucky'.

Here's another 'Fiddle'. Get it? Fiddles used to use catgut strings.

Someone on DU named her cat after my Aunt 'Lola Belle'.

My mother named her new cat 'Pepsi'.

98. Name that cat.
Although my current feline companion of 15 years is named Kelly, a former and much beloved tom was named Toby. Just a suggestion from Oklahoma.

Not as in "Kato Kaelin the worldes most notorious houseguest." But 'Cato the mad houseboy' from The Pink Panther movies.

109. The goofiest male cat I ever knew was named "Norton." He was sweet.
I tend to like human names better too...
My two are Rio and Layla.

I also had a parakeet named Larry (Larry Bird) and a fish with popeyes named "Marty" after Marty Feldman, 'cos that's what he looked like.
