Well my Comcast Email Account has been absconded for now |
|
I've been told that it is now a "fake" account. All I did was get a new computer and it took about 1 1/2 days to get set up. I have a ton of emails that I need to read and a bunch more that I am saving and an entire address book that is lost.
Anyone have an idea as to what happened? I'm waiting for the FBI to show up at my house. And I am so freaking mad.
The last person I talked to at Comcast said: "I've never seen anything so messed up as this And neither of them can just re - set my password for that email account. However they did tell me of another account that they have in their files that I never knew I had.

1. Do you still have your old computer? |
|
Sounds like there has been someone else making changes to your account. A discarded, in-tact computer with saved passwords is one way of gaining access.

2. Good Idea. I can't remember if the guy said it was entirely dead |

or just partially dead. It wouldn't even turn on when I brought it in to be fixed. He did say he thought that lightning probably blew it out.
I wonder if he/the people at the store, have messed with it or my account. He was able to transfer my files over; does that mean he should be able to get my passwords - I'm thinking not.

4. If they transferred your files, the hard drive still works. |

Sounds like the power supply may have been dead. They may have even replaced the power supply and re-sold your computer to someone else.
If your comcast user name and password were saved in the browser, anyone who connects the PC to the internet may be able to log into your account.
I would ask them if they still have your computer and if they don't, ask if your hard drive was wiped before they got rid of it.
If they do still have your hard drive, I would get it back as soon as possible.

3. By any chance were you having problems with your old computer |

Pure speculation but;
About half the spam in the world is sent by people from their email accounts without them having any idea.
It is possible that your old computer got infected with some of this "spyware" and was sending emails out left and right which would get your account locked down.
Again, pure speculation but if this was the case then your old computer would have most likely not been running well.
