I get to live in the United States of Canada (well, not really)

Maui was awesome. Some of my real photography from there is in my DU journal. I'm pretty much a water rat. Fortunately, we have a tiny house on a cove and a few boats up in CT. Now I'm back in NJ though, even my "red" county here is actually pretty liberal. :shrug:

I love birds. We used to breed parakeets and we had a cockateil. When my father got sick, we had to get rid of the birds though. When I do get another bird, I think I want an Amazon.

I think the white one with the 2.0 dual core may be the best mac value in years. But it with minimal memory and hard drive, and upgrade those with Other World/Small Dog equipment, and you're looking at a machine comparable to the 15 in MacbookPro for the same price as the black macbook. Total cost was right at $1600 for hardware (I had some software I needed to buy, plus Apple Care, of course.) I now have a 120 gb HD and 2 gb of ram on this one, as well as enough external storage to make a real RAID.

It was easier to install a hard drive than it was to install the ram (the ram requires a bit of muscle.) The only thing I don't have that a Pro has is the slightly faster video card and the PCMCIA card (which I don't need).

I adored my powerbook, but I'm actually really happy to have an ibook/Macbook again - they're more robust than the powerbook/macbookpros are.
