How many DUers could handle a hot and steamy summer? |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-13-06 04:56 PM by HypnoToad
Forget winter; I'm cool and crisp. (I stay crunchy in milk too...)
Don't go outside. The heat index is higher than Keith Richards in 1969...

1. I don't do well in the heat at all. |
|
Born and raised in CT, moved to VA. VA summers will just about kill you. Hot, steamy, ick.
The good thing is the proximity of the pools and the beach. Plus virtually everything is air-conditioned.

4. I didn't mind them, either. I played tennis and rode my bike |
|
a lot in the summers as a kid. I'll never forget buying my first car and my dad telling me I didn't need air conditioning :eyes:
But, here? Ick, ick, ick. Although I do have to say, this has been a very cool summer so far. My A/C bill hasn't been bad at all.
:hi: yourself!!!!

7. It's starting to get really humid here though. |
|
It's suppose to be close to 100 degrees this weekend with like 80 and 90 percent humidity. :(

2. You know what's funny? |
|
Some people I've encountered think that it never gets hot in Minnesota; that we have brutally cold winters followed by chilly summers. We may not get as MUCH or quite as EXTREME heat as alot of areas, but it's pretty damn unpleasant sometimes. It's supposed to be in the nineties all weekend, here (and humid, of course). I've got to imagine the cities is miserable right now.

Near 100, very humid, and no AC. Just an attic fan.

10. I'm generally pretty stoic about discomfort.... |
|
But, when it's humid, sunny and over 85 degrees, I get really cranky.
At the moment, I'm dreaming about being on the north shore of Lake Superior where it's probably a lovely 72 degrees.

11. All of us DUers here in GA and the Southeast handle it. |
|
We have no other choice. Air conditioned houses, offices, stores and restaurants are a blessing. One can survive without car AC but you'll be extra sweaty and stinky if you have to drive during the hottest parts of the day.
It's even hot and humid at 10 at night here. If you don;t have AC, you must have fans and, hopefully, a nice shade tree.
Two weeks ago it was 98-101 degrees each day with massive amounts of humidity. The heat and humidity simply suck the life out of you. :(
Just be glad you don't live in Milledgeville, GA which is the hottest city in the state. It's usually 2-5 degrees hotter than cities in NE GA. :(

12. I hate summer, but I had handled hot and steamy |
|
for a long time because I lived in South Florida most of my life. I would go from my air-conditioned house to my air-conditioned car to my air-conditioned office. I now live in the Atlanta area and I do the same thing in the summer, air-conditioned house to air-conditioned car to air-conditioned office. At least it does not stay hot and steamy here year 'round as it does in South Florida, so I can deal with the hot and humid summers here.
