Now that I've taught the monkey to say Hi, what should be her second word?
Of course, you reality-based people would probably say she's a cat, but after extensive research, we've determined that she's actually a monkey parrot cat. (Monkey because she looks like a monkey, parrot because if you're sitting on a sofa she'll try to climb on your shoulder from behind.) Regardless, I've noticed almost from the beginning that she was trying to echo my sing-song "Hi-iiii," and that she was gradually getting better at it. Yesterday, I was so astonished to hear my "Hi-iiii" come out of her pitch-perfect that I literally thought I was hallucinating. However, fortunately she did it again when gf was here and so I have a witness. Soooo... what should I try to train her to say next? What are the limits to cat vocalization? As a monkey parrot cat, maybe she should learn to say, "Arrr!" That should be within kitty range, as the large main cat (or bunny) says "Myrrh" without the benefit of any training. Whatchasay?

More on the monkey and the bunny here http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=5301441 for anyone who may be interested.

1. How about "Mama" or "Dada"?
I have a cockatoo preschooler, a starling cellphone, and a child monkey Enlightened One myself...

3. Welcome to DU!
"Hi-iiii, Ho-oooo" would be pretty funny. Actually, I'm surprised that all cats don't learn the word, "No!" rather like terrible two-year-olds.

5. Almost every cat I encountered before these two was a mao-ist
I guess the fact that these two don't say it makes them running dog-cats.:)
