My ten month old nephew, the genius, just said his 3rd word... |

They were leaving daycare, when his daycare lady was waving from the porch as his mommy carried him across the lawn to the car, when he threw his hand up in a wave over her shoulder and said "Bye!" This is the first wave, the first time he's ever done this, and he knows exactly what it means. He's TEN MONTHS OLD. My nephew is a genius! The daycare lady ran to him, put more kisses on him, and I guess the whole way home he was just singing BYE!! It was awesome. Wish I could have been there. What an AWESOME day! Duckie

1. But can he say Goth and Punk? |
|
We taught the community kid (there is one offspring from my group of friends) Duck, Goth and Punk when he was 9 months old (he had mamma and dada and milk and bye and mmm-wah (kiss) down by then.) It really helps if the kid is always around adults who never talk baby-talk to him and are always trying to stimulate his mind.
He knows the distinction, too.

2. Well, if we're counting words he uses to ask for stuff... |
|
This is like his 10th word. When he's wet he points to his diaper and says wah. If he wants some milk, he says bah bah. Then there's mama and dada. And the other usual stuff. I was counting actual words, not just stuff he made up. His daycare lady is a former elementary teacher, and she constantly stimulates him, and he's the youngest kid, and no one is allowed to baby talk him. Duckie
