4. Yeah, you have to pass a test before they give you a drivers license
Why shouldn't there be a marriage test?

2. There should be no government recognized marriage.
You should have to get a license to have children.

10. Yup
With mandatory reversible sterilization for all males at puberty. They can get it reversed when they go through the extensive parenting program.

And, yes, I'm serious.

11. I'll go for that.
I'm a single mom whose ex doesn't believe that he should have anything to do w/ his child. I can definitely understand what you're saying.

Some days I'd love to kill the bastard.

3. In all seriousness...
I'd like to see one that defines "marriage" as something the government has no hand in. Civil unions may be granted by a government office (i.e. by applying for a "marriage" license), but the term "marriage" should be something that individual religious institutions can handle. Thus, two people may be "married" but not receive all the tax benefits and such unless they have a civil union. Keep your religion out of my government and I'll keep my government out of your religion.

12. Amen
As far as I'm concerned, the government's role in marriage should be limited to enforcing a legally binding contract between two consenting adults. Civil Unions for everyone (at least as far as the government's concerened).

18. Bullshit. I'm an atheist with a secular marriage.
I don't want some goddamn priest telling me whether or not my marriage is valid. It is. The state said so.

5. Inter-species marriage is expressly forbidden, as is human-object
marriage.

Think that'll shut up Rick (The "P" Is Silent) Santorum? :eyes:

8. Sorry, bub.
Hey, wait -- we might be able to make an exception for you if you use cheese or meat on your pizza. One came from a living thing, and one was made from a living thing.

Oops -- nope, that other amendment I mentioned rules that out, too. Sorry.

6. I'd like to see hyphenated names go away
It creates a lot of work for people in IT.

Pick a name, either name. Make up a new one that's a combination of both. But don't carry them both around and impose them on your poor children. :hide:

14. I always wanted to know...
In all seriousness, what happens when two hyphenated people get married and have kids?

No really, I'm really that dense...I haven't figured it out.

15. I think that's when they realize the implications of this choice.
Or else you find another marriage partner because of the problems it would cause.

9. Every man should have someone. Or someone decent given to him.
And vice-versa; women shouldn't be left out of the equation.

20. One that says, "If humans want to marry each other, it's just
fine. Committed relationships between loving people are to be commended, not condemned. If a marriage is unsatisfactory to at least one of the parties involved, it may be dissolved without hassle or excessive expense."

And I love the idea about having to get a license to have children. :applause:
