My son brought her in to me at 2:30 this morning. Her breathing was labored (I've never seen a cat trying to breathe with its mouth open before--it's disturbing) and she was crying as if in pain. We spent a good amount of time at the emergency vet hospital this morning where they have ruled out the most disasterous stuff (there are no foreign growths, there is no fluid around the heart, no fluid around the lungs, she did not eat anything that might have tied her insides up).

They are continuing their testing in the belief that she may have feline asthma, or maybe this is just a case of kitty bronchitis. She did respond to medication to expand her bronchial passages.

She's going to be 7 at the end of the month, so she's young and strong. She's got that on her side.

Please keep her in your thoughts today.

8. UPDATE: Millie is still in ICU

She is not panting like she was early this morning, but her breathing is still rapid, so they have her in an oxygen cage. They think it is feline asthma, and they are waiting to see how well treatment works. There will be more news tomorrow.
