How do New Yorkers afford to live there? House hunters-hgtv |

2. I don't know, but my husband watched a thing on homelessness |
in New York. Some guy was paying five hundred a month for a part of a stairwell. That's what we were paying for our apartment at the time.

move to the boroughs like Brooklyn, Queens or the Bronx. They will also move up town to Harlem or to Washington Heights. Anyone who lives in midtown, or upper east side is either really well off or lives with room mates to share the cost.

4. Yeah, I was reading an autobiographical article in the New Yorker about |
a family that was moving, living in NY. They were paying *$24,000* a month in rent.
