Poll question: Peanut Butter. |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-14-06 05:47 PM by Old Crusoe
You may like it. You may not. You may feel ambiguous about it. You may prefer a national brand, a local brand, or you may make your own peanut butter.
You may use it to cook. You may use it for sandwiches or crackers. You may feed it to wild animals out your back door.
You may be allergic to it. You may not be. It might bore you. It might sicken or delight you. It may turn you into a howling maniac.
In the poll below, reveal to all your first choice in peanut butter, ladies and gentlemen.

The extra crunchy kind.
But sometimes I crave the natural peanut butter that you can get at Whole Foods

2. Both good choices. I like the whole foods jars of peanut butter |
|
but they're not always on the shelves, seems like.

Sometimes they have the really top-drawer stuff.

9. Fair enough. Would you consider buying them based on another |
|
criterion -- say, price, or jar design, or artistic logo, or even mythic import of the cartoon in the ad?

25. The main criterion would be the price |
|
I generally eat whatever my housemates buy though.

Please don't consider me a philistine yahoo for not ever having tried organic whipped cream.

10. I used to "prefer Jif" |
|
ate it as a kid, bought it my adult life for *my* kids....
I'm the only one in the family who likes "Crunchy" btw.....
I bought the low fat when it came out (#1 son has genetic high cholesterol).
But now I buy only the organic natural kind. Ground peanuts. That's it. No preservatives, no poly anything, no hydrogenated something or other - just Peanuts......
It's messy and has a higher "fat" content - but it's not fake "stuff"....
Right now - only Smuckers and the Target brand have the one's we like. Here's hoping Jif gets a clue and gets a natural peanut butter on the market.

17. Good strategy. My parents bought either Jif or Peter Pan, and I think |
|
that was all that was on the shelves when I was growing up. Not sure.
Anyway it was a good way to get us to eat celery -- dipping it into peanut butter.

Some folks prefer the creamy peanut butter because it doesn't tear the holy hell out of a slice of bread.
That's a reasonable point, seems to me.
I will toss a piece of bread into a toaster and then it holds up better under the assault of crunchy peanut butter, but where no toaster stands ready, creamy is dreamy.

24. Skippy. I apologize to Skippy fans everywhere. I tried to remember |
|
this brand of peanut butter, and only came up with Jif and Peter Pan. Even Planter's.
But Skippy slipped past and I dropped the ball. Should have included it in my chart.
Good choice.

Cashew butter is way better than peanut butter. Although, I do like the fresh peanut butter machines at Whole Foods. They even have an almond butter machine, which is good because I can get just a little bit (that shit's expensive!).

38. I've discovered Whole Foods all natural |
|
We used to get "natual" PB for my father who had a heart condition and had to watch his fat and salt and I hated it. But this stuff is good, less fat and salt but apparently enough for it to taste good - to me at least.
I generaly only use it these days for breakfast (like on a wheat bagel) or in the occasional Banana PB smoothie.
Good stuff
