Black MacBook, or refub MacBook Pro?

I was surprised to see some efub MacBook pro laptops at the Apple Store Online:

and of course for slightly lower I can get a new black MacBook (I like to call it simply BlackBook :evilgrin: ) Once the local Apple Store opens here this fall (I think, for Norfolk VA), I'll add more RAM and of course get Lepord. I don't one one of those hand grenades from dell, so it's all down to these 2.

Oh, there are BlackBooks that are also refubed at the Apple Store to :-) ...

1. I would go with the Black MacBook.

For me, I've had trouble with several refurbished
electronic items I've bought.

Make sure to get the extended warranty.
It really helps if your video card decides
to go out two months before the warranty expires!
That happened with my ibook.

2. I would get the refurbished MacBook Pro

However, I really want something to run Aperture on (one day I will). If you don't need the higher power or don't feel comfortable with refurbished, go with the MacBook. Get the Apple Care for either choice, but remember that refurbished will have the same warranty as the new one with AppleCare.

3. today's test drives

I went to CompUSA this morning to try out both. First, the black MacBook--the glossy screen seem a little funny at first, as I had to back up a bit further than the Pro to view it. Otherwise both perfromed about the same in terms of speed. Another plus for the Pro is the video card--128 MB of dedicated video memory, vs the intergated yet still quite good Intel Graphics for the MacBook. I think the refub MacBook Pro will be better--the betyer video card will be great to play uT2004 and other Mac Games wirelessly anywhere :bounce:

4. Go for it. With Apple Care, you'll still have a great warranty on it.
