was 87 when I returned home from errands. It turned out that the batteries in the thermostat needed to be replaced. Whew! What a relief!

He's been lying on the kitchen floor right under the ceiling fan all evening -- even though it's much hotter in the kitchen than in the living room, where the older (smarter) cat is hanging out.
