36. I'll tell you where this is:
Haleakala (Hawaii), summer of 1983. Spent a summer session at UH-Manoa. We took several side tours with the university, and this was one of them. That's me sillouhetted against the sunrise (about 4:30 freakin' AM!) and looking down on the clouds. I am wrapped in a blanket from our hotel---the jacket I brought wasn't enough! It was so windy and the air was so thin up there that I felt like I was getting high---and it was great!

I'm told it's really beautiful there. I've spent a lot of time in Western NC, in Black Mountain, near Asheville. My grandmother retired there and I visited often. That is beautiful country, in the mountains, right near the Blue Ridge Parkway. I really liked it there.:-)

And yes, if they smell the chum on the boat, they'll jump up and try to throw themselves over the side or on the back. They have some nerve, like they're big bad predators or something.

The first one I think will be hard, but the beach has an identifying characteristic, if you've been there.

There is at least one semi-identifying structure in the second pic (not the dog).

The last pic is a thing I've only seen in one place.
