3. My dear Bullwinkle.... |
|
I am here a lot....
Probably between 9 or 10 hours every day.....
But I'm not neglecting my 'real' life.......
Since I'm retired from my job, this has become my job!
I love it here......and I plan to be here for as long as I can........

5. But you didn't say yourself! |
|
Well, now, Bullwinkle, you must confess too, in order for us to help you! I probably spend six hours a day on weekdays in my home time but much that is just hearing online talk radio. It is very hard to break away from it as a routine unwinding-tool after work every day. When my computer was broken, or so I thought, I found solace in beaded jewelry, library magazines, and audio books. Also cut way down on my craving for evening coffee.
What did I learn? It is easier to go from addiction to cold-turkey withdrawal than to go from addiction to self-induced moderation.
But DU is not where I spend that much of my computer time. I get a kick out of seeing what other people like to discuss online and when I come here I KNOW I just want to waste some time to postpone going to bed.
Computers are extremely addicting. But they are better than TV's. The question you need to be asking yourself is, (and I certainly ask myself!) what do you wish you were doing with your spare time instead of being on the computer?

7. I'm on this friggin thing way too much every day. If I'm not cruising |
|
Edited on Sat Jul-15-06 02:48 PM by Bullwinkle925
around on DU, I'm on the POGO gamesite winning badges that mean not one damned thing in my life! Or - I'm zooming around realtor.com dreaming about where I'd like to be living! All this and I say I don't have time for exercise - miss being outdoors and have a tremendous amount of books stacked up that I want to read "some day"!! On DU I cruise around to see what others' are reading and make lists.
HELP ME, HELP ME - PLEASE.
But, if I'm not on the computer (and I DETEST those who say 'puter!!!!!) I will be languishing about wondering what I'm missing. This is some sick shit!

6. I spend about 16 hours per day on |
|
Edited on Sat Jul-15-06 12:39 AM by gkdmaths
any of about 12 computers, but only about 30 minutes per day (averaged throughout the week) on DU.
I started running a few miles for lunch instead of eating a bunch of corndogs on account of me being 33 and suffering from severe angina.
