When you were a kid, and your neighbors went on vacation, did their house

seem haunted during the time they were away?

I remember when the Verbecks went on vacation, there was the distinct smell of grape Kool-Aid in their house. But to smell it, you had to go all the way up to one of their windows. Naturally, being kids, we challenged each other at night to go alone up to one of the windows to smell it. Pretty terrifying for an 8-year-old in the dark. Of course, as soon as you got to the window, everyone would start screaming, and you would be so scared, you would trip and fall as you ran away from the house for your life. There was nothing really going on in the house, it just seemed haunted.
