6 pounds of chicken costs $12. That's about 20 pieces.
Now Shake'n'Bake is $2 and contains 4 packets. It takes 1/2 packet to properly cover 1 piece of chicken.

This adds up to a lot of tasty ranch flavored bread crumbs.

Hmmm, I wonder if Shake'n'Bake works on broccoli... :9

1. Where are you buying your chicken?
We get leg quarters for .39/lb., Whole chickens for about $2.75 ea. Breasts or breast quarters are a bit more but I know I can get at least 10 lbs. for that $12. Even at our most expensive grocery.

2. The local "low cost" middle-class grocery store. The one that renovated to
look like the posh Kowalski's a few miles away. So I'm no longer going to shop there, I don't pay for posh looks.

They don't have balloons either.

3. Got a Costco near you?
Sounds like you could use one.

4. No, only a Sams Club.
:(

There is a costco that's 40 miles away, but I lack the refrigeration equipment to stock up and compensate for the gas prices. Which at today's prices is about $15 per round-trip.

6. I work near a Costco and had some freezer stock
until one of my precious kitties decided to get on the cabinets over the fridge - he panics when trying to get down and has managed to pop the freezer open a few times. Unfortunately, I wasn't home this past weekend and lost some chicken, salmon, and Perdue popcorn chicken in The Great Meltdown of 2006. That, and some Haagen Dazs sorbet that I was looking forward to tonight. It's back to Costco tomorrow evening...
