Brokaw: Global Warming Makes The Letter "L" Difficult To Enunciate
At least you'd think so to listen to Tom trying to speak! How'd he ever
have such a long career as a talking head with such glaring problems? Did
he have documented speech problems that he overcame (now, that would be
quite the success story)? Anyone know?

I stopped watching him on NBC after he gushed over *'s illegal war ("we own Iraq!").

1. Yes, as a broadcaster, I've wondered how both Tom and Barbara
Walters "overcame" their speech defects. I have always found it hard to listen to them also, but I don't know whether they tried and failed to repair these problems.

Perhaps it was in a time when these sorts of defects were not a recognized as critical to the audience as they are now.

By the way, for those of you who are interested, Rita Cosby's show has been dumped. There's a woman whose voice was appalling, almost sickening, and I have no idea what she had/has or whether it can/could have been fixed.

3. The only thing I liked about Rita, even her voice was....

...she was as close to being an ordinary person versus a manicured, perfect voice, perfect figure, Playboy bunny type anchor woman that the networks prefer and use to get viewers. I like to see equal opportunity versus a "only good looking people need apply" policies. She had a bad voice and was a little overweight and I say "so what".
My high school I'm proud to say was like that with our cheerleading team. If a young girl wanted to be a cheerleader all they had to do was try out and practice. You didn't have to be a buffy type girl, you could be any girl. All that was required was some physical abilities and school spirit.

2. My mom describes Brokaw's speaking style as such:
"He talks like he has a mouthful of wet sh*t, with the brains to match".

Where I go I just dont know,
LIe got to, got to, gotta take it slow.
When I find my piece of mind,
LIme gonna give you some of my good time.

Where I go I just dont know,
LIe might end up somewhere in mexico.
When I find my piece of mind,
LIme gonna keep for the end of time!
