Poll question: Favorite Black Sabbath era
Edited on Mon Jul-17-06 01:42 PM by Taverner

I will say that although I love Ozzy-era Sabbath, I also loved Gillian on "Born Again" and even liked "Headless Cross" Dio even had a few good tunes, "Neon Knights" and "Children of the Sea" being my faves...

1. The original, completely fucked-up Ozzy
Before he sold out and did Pepsi Cola commercials, that is!

Sabbath-era Dio did have its moments, I particularly liked "The Mob Rules" album.

2. Wot? No love for Ronnie James?
I remember back in the 80's lots of my friends argued that Dio was better than Ozzy.

I disagreed, but where are those voices now?

3. Dio has the ultimate metal voice. Original Ozzy-era Sabbath had
excellent songs, but you had to suffer through Ozzy's whiny-ass voice singing them.

"Mob Rules" and "Heaven and Hell" were excellent albums.

4. Dio was technically a much better vocalist than Ozzy ever was;
however, all of the great classics that established them as a "founding father" of heavy metal came out of the Ozzy era...although I have to say I still love some of Dio's songs from Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules.

5. Geez, that's a really tough question. They each have their own special
something.
