"Clerks II" opens this coming Friday
Just saw the trailer while watching Colbert.

Not impressed with the critic's blurb that "It's the funniest movie since The Wedding Crashers". Hell, after suffering through the first half of that load of shit on HBO last night before mercifully changing the channel, it can't be hard to overcome those low expectations. Even Mallrats is better than that dreck.

Anyone else interested in seeing Kevin Smith bringing Dante and the others to the cusp of middle age?

1. I like Kevin Smith
and I enjoyed Clerks a bunch. But, I'm waiting for dvd for Clerks II...I have no opinion of Wedding Crashers, I haven't seen it, but I usually avoid anything with Owen Wilson, or Will Ferrel...I believe, they are, not funny.

2. I'm really excited. I'll probably see it Friday.
Kevin Smith is a hero amongst many 20something people in NJ.

20. My stepdad loves Clerks and he's in his 50s even.
Actually, he always assumed it was something really stupid, but then for some reason, my DVD player ended up at his condo and one of his DVD players ended up in by room. So that's how he ended up seeing "Clerks" and he loved it. Now the "Clerks" DVD is at the CT cabin. Add that to all the apartments I've lived in and that DVD has gone on quite a journey.

Good show!

If you say you loved Clerks, I promise you will not be disappointed with this sequel. The trailers do not do it justice. The critics (those who are criticizing) are prudes. LOLOLOLOLOLOL HAHAHAHAHA funny. From beginning to end. And touching. You'll laugh. You'll cry!

Waste no more time, get to a theater and see this movie!

Edited to all-caps the title

8. I enjoy Smith's films
But I think Dogma was a bit overrated. Considering my atheism/skepticism, my love of both George Carlin AND Linda Fiorentino, and the general premise, I perhaps had my expectations amped a notch. I cite its shortcomings as an editing problem, not a storytelling flaw. Clerks and Chasing Amy were his best, and with a slight reverse, I think Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was a bit underrated, but that is because of the inside jabs at Hollywood and the brilliant Mark Hamill cameo.

30. No, go see the movie!
I was blessed to see the original Clerks when it opened in my hometown, and tonight's experience was like deja vu, only in color. Solid, funny stuff the likes of which we haven't seen since the original. Show your love for Kevin and see it on the big-screen!

5. It looks kinda sad and pathetic
I'll still see it, but I'm not expecting much.

They simply waited too long.

A sequel was never a good idea anyway which is why there was so much hemming and hawing on whether to do this.

10. mine too
oddly enough, I am probably one of the few people who saw the ORIGINAL version first.....a 20 something guy at work loaned me the box set last year - when I told him WOW about Dante being killed in the end he said I had watched the "wrong one" - still, I'm glad I did - because when the movie abruptly ended like that I immediately thought to myself "HE WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE THERE TODAY!!!"

Kevin Smith (not Silent Bob) walks in through the open door and, not seeing anyone else in the store, steals a pack of cigarettes.

7. especially since wedding crashers just came out last year
"it's the funniest movie since last july" is a nice thing to say, I suppose, but it's hardly an overwhelming endorsement.

I was intrigued when I heard the movie was being made, and interested upon reading some of the early news, but the current ads and the trailer do nothing for me. It does not look good, imo.

I realize he has a lot more resources now, but for a Clerks sequel, it should really be in black and white.

My friends and I relate to them quite well at times.

I believe the plan is to see it together as a group.

34. Great bit on the View Askew website
Smith was on Opie and Anthony's dreadful show and they called Joel Seigel and confronted him about standing up in the movie and announcing that "Time to go!" he yelled as he stood up and proceeding to walk out, passing dozens of critics and writers on his way to the door. And his tirade continued all the way out, as he yelled over the film's dialogue that this was the first time "in thirty (expletive) years" he had walked out on a film. It is pretty funny and Seigel didn't even realize who he was talking to for awhile.

Check it out: http://www.viewaskew.com/main.html
