Man Tried To Firebomb Homes Of Neighborhood Watch Leaders
<snip>

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Three men face federal charges of illegally conspiring to make and possess incendiary devices in St. Petersburg.

Federal authorities said drug dealers gave a man five pieces of crack cocaine to firebomb the homes of two neighborhood crime watch leaders who had been aggressive in trying to run them off.

Police and federal agents arrested the man who allegedly threw the Molotov cocktails at the homes and two men they describe as drug dealers who ordered him to attack the homes.

Authorities said the man carried out their orders in May, but failed to do much damage to the homes.

According to an affidavit, the man who threw the fire bombs told authorities that the neighborhood watch leaders had become too "nosey" and deserved to have their houses "gassed."
