And it's filling.

I eat a lot of vegetarian meals too, given that my parents are veg, but at times I just crave meat.

11. I could easily be vegan if not for fish.
I love fish, especially that damning shellfish. I find other meat revolting though and I can easily give up dairy and eggs. I routinely go long periods without dairy because it helps my sinuses. My life is essentially a sinus condition.

However, my opinion on eating meat is: people should only eat what they know they could kill and clean themselves. I don't think I could kill and a bird or mammal (unless it was life or death for me). I have killed and cleaned my own fish for dinner. Basically, I have a deep respect for both vegans and hunters that eat & use what they hunt.

and eat shellfish.

I had some sushi and shrimp gyoza last night. The gyoza were a little disappointing, but the sushi made up for it. Hmm...the roll had four kinds of fish in it. Is that a sin? Cotton-poly blends are a sin, so is it a sin to blend fish?

It was eel and tobiko inside, with spicy tuna, salmon and yellowtail on the outside. It was HUGE! and messy, but very good.

See, in hell - Homosexuals and Those that eat Shellfish end up pretty much on the same level of hell.

But look where you'll end up if you're a gay shellfish eater.

Either you need to quit eating the shellfish or go straight!!!

I love the taste of meat, and I need the protein content
I am athletic - even despite my ACL recovery I hit the gym 5-6x per week

No Vegan source of protein has the same nutritional value of meat for an athletic person. Sure if you want to be merely healthy, veganism is fine and dandy. But if you want to pack on muscle, its damn near impossible to do it vegan style. If you add milk and eggs to the mix its possible, but how many egg white omlettes can you eat?

Oh and I fucking love all BBQ, especially Texan

30. Because I'm an omnivore just like many other animals.
We don't blame dogs, or bears (or any other animals who eat all kinds of food) for eating meat. That's part of the circle of life. I have no problem with those who choose to be vegan. And I certainly don't want animals to be mistreated when being raised for food. But eating meat is part of an omnivore's diet, and I'm okay with that.

37. Seriously - so true on #3
I got stuck at a Vegetarian Chinese restaurant one time after campaigning for Kerry. Now mind you, I can't stand Chinese food (bad experience) and here I am stuck at a Vegetarian Chinese Restaurant. But I was being a good sport (and a little peeved that my friend forced me to go someplace I couldn't stand but refused to try the Sushi bar even though there were plenty of options other than 'raw fish').

So being a good sport I ask the waitress if I could just get some Egg DRop Soup and some Steamed Snow Peas with Rice (sause on side). It was kinda a special order but I figured it was tolerable. The other 3 in the party all got meat substitute vegetarian dishes to share.

Thing is, these 3 are "oohing" and "aahing" over how much it tasted like the real stuff and insisted I try some.

Trust me, the ham tasted like something but definately not ham! I wasn't even about to try the shrimp substitute.

45. Because I eat less all day if I eat animal protein at meals
I'm a classic "carbohydrate addict." Get me started on large numbers of carbs, even whole grains, and I have trouble stopping. If I'm at a Mexican restaurant alone, I have to refuse the chips and salsa. If I'm at an Italian restaurant alone, I have to refuse the bread basket.

I could never be a vegan because of that, in addition to which I start getting allergic reactions if I eat too much soy. (I LIKE soy--one of my favorite Southeast Asian dishes is deep-friend tofu--but it doesn't like me.)

Besides, sometimes nothing but meat will hit the spot.

I don't feel guilty about it, especially since I try to consume only organic and humanely raised meat. Besides, humans evolved as omnivores.
