Surgery done, home again ...

Thanks for all the good wishes and words of kindness and support. Surgery went well. Dr repaired the incisional hernia and cleaned up some nasty adhesions. I have a really long incision and had the drain removed yesterday. I have a lot of pain this time, more than when I had my original BP/DS surgery in 2005. Maybe I'm turning into a wuss :)
I've gotten a script for percocet, the lortab just isn't doing it for me. I'm off work till next wednesday and glad for it.

I'll try to pop in and out as I can. It's a bit hard to sit for long periods but I did want to check in with you all.

I got darvocet not percocet .. doesn't seem to do any better than lortab. I'm sure it will ease up on e of these days.

6. Yaaaaay!

Heal up!! I have found that each abdominal surgery I have is a bit worse than the one before. My incision spot, which is the one they use (they call it my "zipper") is numb now, but the pain surrounding it afterwards, and the inevitable hematomas and adhesions are horrible. I'm so sorry you are going through this, but if you need to vent, PM me. It sucks. :hug:

I'm glad I had the hernia repair. (I keep telling myself). I really didn't have much choice but it sure hurts like hell. I think I might be pushing myself too much so tomorrow I'm not going to do anything at all. Dr says I'm doing well, and 'of course it hurts' sheeesh ...

Now take it easy until the doctor says you don't have to anymore. I didn't listen to my doctor about taking it easy after my brain surgery and, boy, did I pay.

So, take it from one who is sadder and wiser and...RELAX. You deserve it!

I was surprised by the pain from my hernia surgery. I honestly went into it thinking I'd be back at work in a couple of days. Talk about underestimation!

Please rest and heal. That is your #1 job.

30. I took your advice and booked time

off work. I'm shocked at the amount of pain this is. It's worse than my BPD/DS was. I didn't need near the pain meds that I'm seeming to need for this. :shrug:
