Just drove my new Prius home!
Been plotting and planning to get one for months now - it all came together. Got a good deal on the ol' SUV trade-in too (the old SUV did get 20 m.p.g., and I've cut down the driving to almost nil, so I didn't feel too guilty), but ...

As I came home - I'm afraid I did a bad thing. I passed a Ford 350 with a Bush-Cheney sticker, smiled at him, waved, and zoomed on. The driver GLARED at me.

One internet blogger is right - the Prius runs on an ... AURA OF SUPERIORITY (or giddiness). HeeHee. I'm just joshing!

I'm flying high as a kite just thinking about how Big Fat Bastard (the recently retired CEO of ExxonMobil) - well, his options are going to worth just a tad less - 'cause the Maat family will be buying less gas at the local station (although I have been buying most of it at Citgo).

If I don't respond for a few hours, I'm going to a class at church (positive thinking - Spiritual Oil for One's Business).

Thanks in advance for any responses!

9. I love that shade of blue
That would be my first choice as well. Did you get to choose or did you just have to take what came in next?

10. I got to choose.
The way that dealership works is that you 'order' it; you have to be on a waiting list, but they get you what you want, and they don't mark it up.

4. I want a Scion XB. The box!
Edited on Tue Jul-18-06 07:13 PM by Maddy McCall
I'm going to have major commutes and travels this fall through spring, so I'm going to have to get an economical vehicle.

I saw a lady loading an XB at Lowes, and she let me kinda look it over. The thing is actually pretty posh and has tons of cargo room. She claims to get 35 miles to the gallon. I like!

Oh, and on edit: I love the Prius. I am seeing them more and more. I might look at the Prius, too. How's the trunk room?

8. Hybrid would be sweet.
My kid was the one who urged me to look at XBs.

Do you have alot of trunk room in the Prius?

I really need to get out and look at cars.

11. Not much trunk room.
But then, for driving around town, I don't need much. We also have a minivan (but let's not talk about that).

Take care!

7. Nice car. My 2005 has been a lot of fun so far.
And the mileage just improves as the parts wear in and you get to know the vehicle better.

I love zero emissions. It's like a tantric trick, only in a car.

12. So far I love not seeing the fuel dial goe half-way down ..
on one trip.

It didn't budge, and I had to drive the car about 40 miles home.

13. I love passing big gas hogs in my Echo
I know it uses more gas to do so, guilty pleasure.
I get 37-43 mpg.
My girlfriend ordered a Yaris a few weeks ago.

14. Way cool!
We do own a big truck for hauling (it is not diesel), but it has the capability to use E85, although it appears that state officials beholden to the oil industry have made it so that there is only one station available. We don't drive it much, but I am checking into possibilities to make it environmentally-friendly.

15. yea, I don't have a problem with people who use their gas hogs responsibly
and it sucks that alternative fuel sources aren't easier to use. There's a place less than a block from me that sells biodiesel, but good luck finding a diesel vehicle in MA if you don't have a lot of money or are not so mechanically inclined to fix up an old junker.

16. You got it.
The one guy at Pearson Ford managed to get a station together that has biodiesel, E85, and the regular fuels, but he had to call it a 'science center,' or something. He feels that state officials here in Calif. are doing everything they can to drag out approval for more stations like his. The state official weakly replied that the pumps needs special somethings (little parts); I can't fathom how that would delay things so much. They DON'T want to make going green easy; they are making it as difficult as possible.

When I did the research, I became very sad; it seems like a conspiracy is running rampant to get the last bit of money out of us for gasoline (for Big Fat Bastard, recently retired from ExxonMobil).
