My cat turned into a monster. He discovered the outdoors. Shit.
Little fucker snuck out through the mistakenly open patio screen door and zipped downstairs into the wilderness before he got reprimanded and sent home by mean old me. Now he is acting like a crazed maniac, running around, banging up against the door, screaming bloody murder.

I'm in for a long, torturous night.

1. Ooooh! that happened to our Sweetie. He fell out a window once

And then he hid under the trailer and wouldn't come back in no matter how much we tried. His parents were feral so we wondered if it was instinctual because he had been an indoor cat for 3 years. :( I miss him to this day. He was struck by a car a few weeks later after sneaking out once again. His brother Merlin is afraid of the Great Outdoors, thank goodness! :hi:

On edit--you could always "duck" tape him down.

2. Mine is part feral, also.
I may duck tape him. You should hear him right now. It's horrible.

Sorry about yours getting hit. That sucks.

6. I just wish we could have done more to get him back...
I felt awful when it happened. He was sitting on the window ledge and the screen just popped out...and he was hooked.

I bet someone is awful mad at you right now. I can just imagine the howls and caterwauling. :hi:

3. Ours get the meat-locker treatment when they get cabin fever.
We take them outdoors in the winter, on the coldest, snowiest day possible. They discover that the outdoors is cold and wet and awful and that usually lasts about 6 - 8 months.

Summers, they have to wear harnesses and leashes, and that makes them look like such total dorks to the other cats that they won't be caught dead outside with mom and dad.

4. That sucks
Once they get a taste of the outdoors, it's never the same after that. My cats have both snuck out, then last summer my toddler decided to "help" them get outside. Now the cats are doing the same crazed-maniac stuff like yours. It's annoying.

5. My cat's discovered the outdoors ever since he started pissing
on the floor instead of in the litterbox. He's gotten better now and goes inside alot, and I think, uses the litterbox. But occasionally we let him out when he wants to go out (for some reason).

7. I think it can sometimes fall under the old saying,
the grass is always greener on the other side.

10. Make sure he can't access the knives.

Last thing you want is a cat that's seeking revenge.

Edited to add: if he gets mad enough, he might just grow an opposable thumb, you know. Especially now that he's indoors and has plenty of time to think about it.

11. Nothing scarier than a thinking cat.
He's sitting in a dark corner right now, watching me. I'm so fucked. Actually afraid to go to bed.
