Poll question: Okay, I admit, I didn't consider what having an elephant avatar might mean
So, I'll put it to the vote.

Horton Hatches an Egg is my favorite Dr. Seuss book, and one I take great pleasure in reading to my kids. They in turn buy me Horton stuffed elephants, which you can see in the back of some of the pics I post, because one sits on my mantle. Horton's immortal words "I meant what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful, one hundred percent," have become a mantra for my family.

However, it's hard to deny that the innocent, sweet, noble creature of the elephant has come to symbolize the worst horrors and atrocities in modern times.

So, is my avatar too controversial for DU? Should I retire my dear little elephant (my first attempt at an avatar in the many years I've been here, I should add)? Or is the purity of Dr. Seuss and Horton enough to save my beloved avatar?

You decide.

I might even listen to you. :)

an option that lets you vote a dozen times, since I'd listen to a Minnie fan over a regular DUer any day!

How ya been? :hi:

I'm OK. I think we need a DU cat thread, though. It's been, what, half an hour since the last one? ;)

I say, keep him.....

He is far removed from the ugly rethuglican elephant, IMHO....

This is a very cute and upstanding elephant!

Definitely a keeper!

And it's cute.

20. you know what you gotta do....
You gotta go where you wanna go,
Do what you wanna do
With whoever you wanna do it with.
You gotta go where you wanna go,
And do what you wanna do
With whoever you wanna do it with.

You don't understand
That a girl like me can love just one man.
Three thousand miles, that how far you'll go.
And you said to me "Please don't follow".

Cause you gotta go where you wanna go
And do what you wanna do
With whoever you wanna do it with.
Babe, you gotta go where you wanna go
And do what you wanna do
With whoever you wanna do it with.

You don't understand
That a girl like me can love just one man.
You've been gone a week, and I tried so hard
Not to be the crying kind---
Not to be the girl you left behind.

You gotta go where you wanna go
And do what you wanna do
With whoever you wanna do it with.
You gotta go where you wanna go (Go where you want)
And do what you wanna do (Do what you want)
With whoever you wanna do it with.
You gotta go where you wanna go (Go where you want)
And do what you wanna do (Do what you want)
With whoever you wanna do it with.
