I'll post in your thread if you'll post in mine |

Point me in the right direction--I can't promise I'll be brilliant, but I'll do what I can ...

I didn't...:) I've been a peterson longer than Adrian's been alive...:) Good memory, on your part, to remember my "hat" position, on OU losses...:) With Vince Young gone, I see OU winning again in the big 12, but I hope Nebraska comes around...Nebraska use to keep you guys in check, and Neb hasn't been worth a dime, since...their national championship loss in jan of 2002....

I think the big 12 is pretty wide open this year--OU should win the south (maybe A&M will challnege, but lately they wind up disapointing) ... I think the north is anyone's game, really. If I had to pick now, I guess I'd pick Nebraska, but only because of their history, I guess. But I don't really like their new coach, and I'd rather see someone else (I'm looking at you, Iowa State) win it this year. That whole division seems in disarray.
Either way, I'm really looking forward to football season. I just really love that time of year. And I really enjoyed our last conversation last time about the sooners and the various implications for native issues. I know you'll be rooting against us, but that's okay :)
Hope things are going well for you :hi:

11. I'd love to see Mangino do it |
|
I've always liked the guy. I remember when he came very close to beating texas (bogus interference call, iirc) a couple of years ago, and last year they were just a few plays away from winning some big games. I would love to see them or ISU (or even Missouri) win the north this year. :)

12. Yeah, I got to meet Mangino personally in |
|
spring of 2003. I went to college at Haskell, in Lawrence kansas. Mangino showed up to a Lawrence High game, recruiting/looking at players. He is a very very short man, but pretty damn heavy. I didn't think he was that short, until i met him...he looks like he is 5'5....:)

16. I heard once that he was controversial with the local football leagues |
|
specifically, that he was at one of his kid's games and marched onto the field to confront the ref, trying to throw his (metaphorical) weight around ("do you know who I am," etc.). I don't know if that was true or not, but I always hoped not. He is about as wide as he is tall, from what I understand ... but I always had a good impression of him ... when my wife was going to school (at ou), she worked at a restaurant that drew a lot of football players and coaches, and she said mangino was one of the friendly, good-natured guys. (She said his wife was a bit of a diva, but I suppose that's all hearsay )

6. now, that's very tricky |

I retroactively invoke the retroactive clarification that I speak only of DU threads. :) Still, it looks like an intersting site--I'm going to peruse it, and very well might sign up ...

8. did you start that site? |
|
Bravo to you if you did, and thanks for pointing me in that direction.
Also, I should tell you that the link to that web site on your profile has a capitol F, which results in a redirect page to the updated forums. I don't know if that's something you want to change or not, but I thought I should bring it to your attention so that people finding that site through your profile might get there more quickly. :)

13. Okay, I'm so ripped, I see two of everything I type and |

the reading is an experience all its own right now. My head won't be still. I feel like I've turned into a bobblehead. Here is a link to my thread from earlier. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=5386384&mesg_id=5386384Excellent idea of post swapping, btw. Wish I'd thought of it myself.

but I added my thoughts (such as they were) to your thoughts (such as they were). :toast: to you Jamastiene, and may the future (at least once, and hopefully more) hold as much excitement and anticipation and possibility as that one great moment that inspired this: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=5386384&mesg_id=5386384:hug:
