I suck at fritillaries.

11. Correct.
It is a Variegated Frillitary. The orange one is the first series is the Gulf Frillitary.

12. To be perfectly honest
I don't think I've ever convincingly identified a frit.

3. Beautiful and worthy of framing. Have you tried selling these photos?

4. No,
but if you like them, you can buy very good quality prints of them at my photo site. I get no money off of it. This same site does allow for business minded photographers to sell their craft, but it really is just a hobby for me. Take a look. http://Maestros.smugmug.com/gallery/691094/1/30027690 I also like this gallery of mine. There are a few in this gallery I could frame as well. http://Maestros.smugmug.com/gallery/944615/4/68362813

Thanks for the nice comments.

5. A question for you.
Very nice pictures-- well done!

I have a question, though-- what sort of butterfly is black with blue lines on it, and is active around the northeastern US, especially Pennsylvania?

There's this one butterfly around my neighborhood that seems to pop up when I least expect it. It's funny actually-- every time I'm walking up the driveway to come through the door, the butterfly appears out of nowhere and looks like it's headed straight for a collision course with my face. So far I've managed to avoid it, but it makes for rather interesting entertainment in a neighborhood where I literally have no friends.

6. I'm really not a butterflyologist. ;)
I wouldn't know the first about butterflies, really. I just like taking their pictures. I have been able to identify the several species that I have photographed using the Web. Perhaps, you could find your butterfly perusing this site. It sounds beautiful and a bit playful. A bunch of butterflies here

13. Found it!
I did a specific search for my county, and it turns out that it's most probably a Red-spotted Purple.

So now I know what exactly my only friend in the neighborhood is. :)

8. Patience?
Not so much so, especially when it is 105 degrees while shooting. The photographers that have patience are the ones that go out birding looking for that one good shot. Man, those have got the patience. Me? No, I just go into my backyard and see what I can find. ;)
