2. I buy my online
it's the Australian formula but they sell it over the counter there. I have it for both dogs and cats and it works great. If you don't want to bother with a vet. I use the website below:

3. THANKS!, I just spent 500 bucks at the vet Saturday
and got a 6 dose Frontline for the animal I took in as a preventative. I like having it around just in case. Rather than have to go in again and have another 100 buck bill just for walking in the door. All the US web places require a prescription. I know when my animals have fleas! SOmetimes I like to use that stuff as a preventative like if a cat gets out of the house.

Is it called Frontline where you are too?

AGAIN, THANKS!!!

4. oh honey
I'm in the good ole USA. The website is in Australia. The shipment comes via the US mail and it moves pretty quick. I just wanted to tell you that some of the chemicals are a bit different but they work on my pets.

5. Frontline, Revolution, and Advantix is okay.
There are a lot of organic flea removal products, too, but I don't know much about them. I'm sure someone will be a long shortly to let you know. :)

10. HA! The dog ate some premetherin last year! It was bugspray on
dogfood. I sprayed it (ants all over the bowl) and he ATE it. FAST.

Vet said "Give him some peroxide to make him throw up." Works great. Self-cleanig dogbarf AND his teeth got whiter!

7. Frontline is the best. And it's *not* prescription, though I have
found it behind the counter at every pet supply store I've gone to because it's more expensive than the other brands.

Fronline will fix the dog right up but you'll still have to deal with the bedding areas and such.

12. Don't neglect to treat your house.
Fleas only spend 10% of the time on the animal. The rest of the time they are in your house. Get a flea bomb.

13. Need a few more constraints on the solution space
Edited on Wed Jul-19-06 04:50 PM by Xipe Totec
such as:

Is it mandatory that the dog survive the procedure?

Any limits on property damage?

What about humans in the vicinity; are they expendable, or do they need to survive as well?

What about the cats? do they need to survive too?

The solutions available are somewhat limited once you apply constraints....

14. I used to groom dogs for a living and here is what I learned.
Don't treat the dog at first. Treat the dog's environment/habitat first. I use Bengal Flea and Tick spray. It has always worked best for me. It's not for treating the animals, so don't use it on the animals, just the house, especially the bedding. After it dries, wait about an hour. Then wash the dog in his normal shampoo. The trick here is to let the shampoo sit on the dog for 5 minutes. After that, rinse, and wash the dog like normal. After the second rinse, use a mixture of Keri Lotion (1 part Keri Lotion to 10 parts water) on the dog, then rinse again. Dry him however you normally would dry him, hair dryer or drip dry.

This way you aren't dousing the dog with chemicals and you still get rid of the fleas. That's the trick that works every time. After that, the only thing you need to do is wait a week and treat the house again with the Bengal in case you missed any spots the first time.

17. My dog hates having things dropped on her coat
Edited on Wed Jul-19-06 05:31 PM by mycritters2
So we use Sentinel. It's oral, and prevents Heartworm, too.

I also started using this when I had a cat with chronic renal failure. My vet said the topical treatments--even on a dog living with the cat--could be hard on the cat's kidneys.

So, I always use an oral treatment.
