1. They do show cat pee (actually any bodily secretion).
I don't know what to do about getting the smell out though. Google it?

4. I have found a lot of products listed that claim to do so...guess I'd
rather trust someone here who has had success using something.
Thanks! Once it gets dark tonight, I will be searching, searching...

2. Yes, they do. I have something at home that seems to take it out.
I'm an expert on this, sadly. I'll come back and give you the name of the product.

3. Nature's Miracle should work
there are other products, too. Check at your local pet supply.

8. AOE: animal odor eliminator, professional strength.
I got it from my vet. I've used about 8-10 gallons of Nature's Miracle, Nature's Remedy with no real luck. So far I tried AOE on the linen closet where I used to keep the cat box. This was a cat box that was missed as often as it was hit, kwim. It took several sprays, but after a week or two, it finally smelled pretty good in there.

I have no idea what it really is, but it's the best thing I've tried so far.

Btw, if anyone knows how to get a cat to, for sure, STOP peeing outside the litter box, let me know. I've tried everything, including anti-anxiety meds for the cat, uti tests & meds, multiple litter boxes, pheromones to make the cat happy,

9. Did you try Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract litter?
I've heard that works great. They have it at Petsmart. We were going to try it, but found that the regular Dr. Elsey's solved the problem for us.

20. How old is the cat?
Some older ones just get iffy.

10. "Knock-Out" disinfectant & cleaners
I just read an article from a home specialist on this subject and he said that "Knock-out" is not only environmentally safe, but can kill the smell of everything from cat urine to skunk stink. I've never tried it myself.
My cat was so bad, he decided one corner of my TV room rug was far better than any litter box. We decided to get rid of the rug (wall to wall) and put down a wood floor. The pee had saturated not only the rug & mat, but all the way through to the sub-sub floor AND the base boards. We cut all of that out and put new wood in as well as new baseboards. It was the only thing that help us...complete removal of the "smell infected" areas.
Good luck.

11. And a dehumidifier
We had the problem with our kitty and tried everything and spent a chunk of money. Get the dehumidifier out. Our smell was in the basement and every time it got damp or humid...stinky city.

Good Luck

14. Black lights show the uric acid crystals, &most black lights will show it

Get a bar type black light (same shape as a fluorescent light), that is in it's own light casing with a cord. You can use an extension cord to be able to move around large areas. (be sure to turn out the lights! :D)

As for the smell in whatever type of flooring or floor covering you have:

If you have carpeting & pad, you will need to rip it all out. I would like to tell you that there's some sort of miracle deodorizer, but really there isn't.
(Apparently, these people claim their product works. http://www.urine-off.com/applications2.aspx
However, am sharing what I know as a designer with some experience in this area.)

When an animal pees on a carpet, it soaks into the pad underneath, which in turn retains the moisture and is absorbed even further into the concrete and/or sub-flooring underneath. So matter how well you clean the carpeting, the urine smell will still come through.

Once you rip up the carpeting & pad, clean the concrete,
(sweep/vac well, then just damp mop...any pee stains you may find can be scrubbed with a stiff floor brush...too much moisture in cleaning the concrete can alter it),
allow it to dry, and then use a concrete sealer. This will eliminate any and all pee odors. It also will prevent any future pee accidents from penetrating the concrete.
(Check with you rlocal hardware store for a good brand of concrete sealer. You don't need a slick sealant, just a moisture barrier.)

If you have sub-flooring, it will have to be ripped out and replaced as well. But once in, you can use a sealant on the replacement sub-flooring.

If you have carpeting, you may want to consider changing it out for a linoleum, laminate or tile flooring, and use washable rugs or area rugs you can shampoo.

16. Thanks for all the helpful suggestions! The floor is sealed already, so
that's good; I just would like to be able to clean as effectively as possible to eliminate future mishaps.
Thanks!

19. In my experience
Cat pee comes out all by itself. The difficult part is making sure that it only comes out into the litter box.
