but when you take em to the school, they install a goddamn internet filter on it!! Why do they want to control what websites we go to AT HOME? Their power only extends to the school, and nowhere beyond. I think i have a civil liberties issue on my hands, yet the government can do nothing about it b/c it's a private school...damn.
But i'm still glad i got the laptop though! :) :)

3. See if you can get your parents to say something about that to them. |
|
Did your parents pay for the laptop?

but you see, my mom WANTS the internet filter-she's ALL FOR this. Crazy, i know. I mean, you don't need a goddamn internet filter to protect yourself on the internet-you just need some commen sense. Like not posting "hOtT pIxXx" of you in your bikini in a suggestive pose.
I hate internet filters. They're so goddamn unconstitutional...

Those filters filter out plenty of perfectly safe websites.
Anyway, check out www.peacefire.org

10. Fortunately for you, the only people that can't beat filters... |

but if I were the mother of a teenager, I'd want 'im to have an internet filter, too. I've done enough work with adolescents to be concerned about their judgment. All the kids I know will grow up to be great and wise adults, I hve no doubt. But they're not there yet.
And I want 'em to get there!

What about the parents who can't afford it, or who believe that high schoolers should not have their own computers? Do they just have to go scratch?

but my school costs like $9000 dollars a year to go to, so I guess they figure that if you can blow almost $10,000 on your child's education, you can blow like $1000 ($2000, if you buy em from the school, which i didnt. mine was only $1400 or so) on a laptop. I guess they'll give you one for free if you REALLY cant afford it (like going to my school on a scholarship or something)...but i dont know.

Giving out your family's general financial status online isn't much safer that posting HOT PIXX in a suggestive bikini... :)

People troll these sites for people to run cons on. Not a high probability, but still there. Not to mention stalkers, and no telling what else. Just wisest to keep personal info to a minimum. A lot of people now know your parents' basic income level, how much they spend on you, some of their fears about the Internet. Some people here apparently know your mother as a poster. With just that info, some people could come up with something. Just sayin'. No one expects it, that's how come it happens. If nothing else, you don't want Agent Mike to know! :)

Lately, I've been trying my best to majorly limit my personal info and such. That's why I don't have a myspace and my xanga (link in sig) only has my first name & gender.
Ahh...Agent Mike!! :scared: :P
