Can you help me with a work dilemma? |
|
I just started in a new job in a call center. Apparently, there is a great need for supervisors in same center, and they are considering two men in my training class for the positions. One of the guys is a real jerk who has a bullying personality. We were working on an excercise for class together and because I misenterpreted something he said, he told me I was "an idiot" and stupid. I let it go (actually told him "I'd been called worse by better") because we've had some real issues in this class (with all the people, not just him) and I didn't want to add to it. I was also sitting beside him and heard him complain that it's ok for people of color to make racist epithets toward whites, but you don't dare say the word "n-" This makes me feel like he's not really going to get along with the racially diverse group of people who work at this call center.
My dilemma is, do I say something about what I've witnessed to management, or just keep my mouth shut and pray he doesn't become my supervisor? As far as him calling me names, if I don't ever have to deal with him outside of training class, I could care less. But I don't want to be working for him and have to deal with that every day.
Some thoughts please?

1. As I noted in another thread |
|
my solution was to quit immediately. Life's too short. I got another job the next day, so consider this a day off.
Don't listen to what I did though. I'm Mr. Bad Example!
From what you wrote about this king sized jerk, however, I wouldn't worry too much. He'll either get himself fired, or the crap beat outta him very soon.
Good Luck!

3. Well I didnt' read your other thread |
|
but if quitting were an option, I'd do it.
I suppose, once I get to pick my schedule, if he's on a certain shift I'll just say I don't want to work those hours if it means working for him. That might give them the message.

2. I vote you step up for these management positions |
|
Place yourself in the spot where he wants to be. Then he'll be in no position to lord himself over anybody.

4. One problem: I have no wish to manage anyone |
|
Never have, never will. But I don't want to work directly under an asshole either.
